  • Thank you latchbrook, I didn’t know about that!

  • Hello Marmitefan59

Thanks so much for thinking of me.  Hope you are doing well.

So I had my op 25th 2pm and surgeon came to see me following morning 26th at around 9am stating that it was Likely I would be discharged that afternoon subject to bloods etc coming back with good results .He informs me that he couldn't see anything suspicious outside of the uterus and he removed pelvic lymph nodes that he said were pretty normal looking but obviously histology will tell in good time. He was pleased to say itvwent smoothly and I coped well..

I am recovering well at home and remembered some points you made about walking and moving feet etc when seated for long periods. I am trying to eat light healthy meals and drinking plenty. I am coping well without pain relief.  I only take a tablet at night so  far. I also have to inject my tummy and have copedcwell so far.  Tomorrow I will attempt a short walk up and down my road if I can manage. I have a big back garden and walked around it today but felt cold so came back in sharpish. LOL.

.I had 4 incisions and can say thst only the belly button one is troublesome and is hurting swollen.  I  am wearing loose dresses as can't bear anything touching it.

The first night at home was a sleepless one as just could not get comfortable sleeping on my back  as I am a side sleeper. This is now much improved and got good night rest last night.

My husband and daughters are making sure that I rest and are doing cooking and chores so am being pampered.

If I've missed anything important or you would like to ask feel free.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Mad. i am glad your operation went well.  I still remember how scary it was especially the night before my op so it will be reassuring to many woman that we have got through it and it wasn’t as bad as feared.  Seven and a bit weeks on I still have a bit of pain and wind! but my swelling finally seems to have settled down and I am keeping active and doing most things I used to do.  My CSN has reassured me that everything is fine and there is still a lot of internal healing to take place.  I did find about week 3 the skin on my abdomen all started flaking off but this is all part of the healing process.  I was always a side sleeper but I have got used to sleeping on my back now.  Don’t forget your recovery is not a race!  Take care XXX

  • Hi Maddy, it’s so good to hear back from you! So glad we’re both now on the other side. Well done for your progress so far. When do you have your follow up appointment and results? Regarding your belly button incision, have you been in touch with the ward to let them know it’s swollen and sore? Apparently it’s the one most likely to get infected so if you haven’t told anyone, I’d recommend you do now. It’s likely to be tender but I don’t think it should be sore, Hope you continue to feel a bit better every day and are able to try your walk tomorrow!

  • Glad to hear your op went well, I have been thinking about you too.  Hope the pain from your incision settles down soon.  My turn next - feeling a bit anxious as op date draws nearer, but ready to get it over and done with next week x

  • Hiya MarmiteFan59

Bellybutton checked....its not weeping...its clean and dry. Getting better. Belly deflating a bit each day....no painkillers yesterday. Easier mobilisation. It honestly gets better each day and think worst day is  straightafter op for which you have pain controlled pump which you administer yourself as much as you want. Apparently nurses were surprised I only used it 3 times.

My anxiety was through the roof leading up to op and affecting my digestion with IBS. It's settled back down now and feels great that I am through other side. I am informed histology can take 4 or so weeks then MDT meeting to take place finally they will call me back to clinic and unveil a care and treatment plan. I have read so many positive stories on here and cruk websites and focusing on these as I think to myself I have every chance of getting rid of this cancer once and for all. One nurse that came to talk to me told me I was a positive kinda person and that studies  have shown that these kinda people do better in the longrun and heal better.

Also knowing the cancer has been removed has a lot to do with it. I am actually gonna try believe its all gone for now. This is today's view. One day at time.

    Take care.

  • Thanks walkinglady the experience we all share will help everyone on this journey. Very true we are all different and it's not a race. But to be honest I cannot wait to be able to fo normal things but must listen to my body.

Another thing forgot to mention that my hospital gave me 6 little bottles of pre op nutritious drinks to take day before op and morning before op and also a spirometer breathing device to aid lungs expand which I am still using post op.

    Anyone else had these?

  • Hello Lolabo

I can honestly say it's not as bad as I thought and worst bit is straightafter the operation and you will cope as you have lots of pain relief on offer. I also point out that have had no bleeding but was expecting it as even surgeon advised to expect bleed or discharge for up to 4 weeks.

I really hope your operation goes smoothly  and we await your experience as soon as you are able to and please ask if theres anything you would like to ask about my experience.

    Take care

  • Thank you for your reply.  I too have the pre-op drinks to take on Sunday/Monday and a spirolater.   Currently trying to keep busy, but reading everyone else’s experiences is definitely helping me.  I’ll let you know how I get on xx
