Hello everyone

I hope you don't mind me posting here today. It's Steph from the Community team and I'm just popping in to let you know that we've recently shared a Community News Blog you might be interested in.

The blog's called 'Let's talk about cancer and hair loss' and we feature conversations from the womb cancer forum and across the Community. We know that it can really help people to know that others have been through similar experiences and how they coped. We also link to other resources which might be helpful to anyone experiencing hair loss through cancer treatment.

You can find the blog here if you'd like to have a read.

If there's anything you'd particularly like to see featured in a future Community News Blog, or if you'd like to share your story in a guest blog, please do get in touch. You can comment below or email us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Hi All

Having recently lost my hair after chemotherapy I read the blog and found as always I'm not alone here, others have gone through the same trauma. The moment you see yourself in the mirror it all comes home, you've got cancer and the next step is to pick yourself and fight the little buggers with everything you've got.

I went to the wig shop last Friday and spent a couple of hours trying on styles I'd never have dreamed of having, the wig I chose has done masses for my self confidence and my bestie says it's knocked years off me so I'm feeling pretty good at the moment being blonde and gorgeous! LOL!

For everyone in the same position it's not that bad. If it wasn't so blooming cold I'd wear my baldness with pride and if asked about my situation I'd welcome the opportunity to tell ladies with unexpected post menopausal bleeds to get them thoroughly checked out.

    Hugs to all, B xx
