Hair loss

Hi ladies,

I had my first chemo on 29th December and due second one on 24th January.  My hair is starting to come out Weary but was just wondering did anyone who has been in the same situation have pain in the scalp once this started? Thanks x

  • Hi . My scalp did feel very tender and I was very careful when I washed what remained of my hair not to rub, just smooth baby shampoo over rinse and blot excess then went into the garden to shake out towel.

Believe me there's an upside to this. On Friday I went to the recommended wig shop, spent a couple of hours trying on styles I'd never have dreamt of changing my hair to. Aged a young 68 I'd stuck with a shoulder bob for years and gave up colouring years ago!

Anyway, I've now got this fantastic wig and I feel a million dollars in it. My bestie says it's taken years off me and my self confidence has come back in buckets! I've gone blonde with strawberry highlights and honestly it looks so real. It cost £202 less the £100 voucher and the VAT came to £80 and bought wig shampoo and conditioner so was just over £100. I've 3 more wigs on order from a company and each was half price. I can send you a link if you'd be interested.

    Big hugs, Barb xx

  • Thank you for your reply, yes I would like the link please x

  • Hi  Here's the link to the site I've bought 3 wigs from.

Blonde Wigs for Women Synthetic Wig Curly Asymmetrical Wig Short Golden Brown#12 Synthetic Hair 8Inch Women's Best Quality Curling Blonde 7878816 2022 – £15.01 (lightinthebox.com)

They haven't arrived as yet so I can't testify as to the quality but thought you can't go wrong with that sort of price. As I mentioned the wig I got from the Wig shop cost over £200

    Hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Rach.  I am interested in this too - had my first session last Friday, so far ok, but not looking forward to loosing my hair!  I have a wig ready and have managed to get a bargain on eBay for another fun one!  I will look at the link Barb has sent too, thanks Barb Bouquet  I am a bit worried about securing it safely - I have bought some tape and I am hoping it will feel better when my own hair has gone

How have you been feeling generally?  Has it been manageable?  Take care and good luck for the next session x
