Hi all since I have had brachytherapy 2.5 years ago I seem to be experiencing low ferritin levels has anyone else had this. My doctor wants me to have a bowel cancer test. I have radiation proctitis (radiation damage to the bowel) diagnosed via coloscopy 18 months ago. Not wanting to do this however I'm going for the kit tomorrow. Dawn x

Hi Chickpic,
I've not had your problem, but my husband was recently picked up with being anaemic, was sent for bowel, and throat tests. Turns out, he had early bowel cancer. He had no symptoms. I think any suspicion of blood loss they test for bowel cancer. The plan was to cut out the cancer and rejoin the bowel. I didn't know such things were possible. However, in his case the bowel was badly damaged and he ended up with a bag, but no further treatment needed.. The bag is not too bad and I am just very glad it was caught early. Whatever your problem is, good luck!! xxxx
Hi NannyAnny thanks for your response. I had a coloscopy 18 months ago and the diagnosis was radiation proctitis and I do sometimes bleed from the rectum. I hope that us what it is. My count was 20 and normal 30 and the doctor said my iron was OK. We will see. Dawn xx
