Hi if you have reaccured what was your symptoms thanks xx
Hi Xxnataliexx. At my third tri-monthly check-up back in June I was fine apart from a bit of Lymphoedema. In late July or early August I had a pain in my chest which I put down to the pull cord on a petrol mower fighting back causing a pulled muscle. When it didn't shift after 3 weeks I saw my GP who referred my for a chest Xray. That came back clear with heart and lung definition both good so why was I still having chest pain and a bit of breathlessness? GP referred me for ECG and full bloods. ECG normal, bloods showed high inflammatory markers.
I was due for a quarterly check-up at the end of September and mentioned it to my CNS but symptoms didn't seem to be womb related so she said stick with GP but my notes were updated.
At roughly the same time started having a few bowel issues. Extreme pain in tummy. Sometimes trapped wind, other times the "poo" didn't seem sufficient for the pain experienced. Had to get to the loo very quickly and going more than usual. I put the bowel problems down to Brachytherapy.
My GP referred me for a CT scan in October, actually took place beginning of November. The visual was available to my CNS but not the written report. She's not qualified to interpret scans but could tell something seemed amiss. As soon as the written report was available she immediately contacted my Oncologist and Gynaecologist. The speed at which my cancer has come back all over the place has floored them.
My delayed three monthly check took place in November. The Consultant was very thorough, checked the Brachy scar tissue, looked at the Vaginal cuff and thoroughly inspected everything digitally (by finger) and hysteroscopy and he didn't see anything as all my tumours aren't where the womb used to be. They're in my abdomen, up against the bowel (hence the problems) and against my ribs causing shortness of breath.
Talking to my Oncologist last Tuesday it seemed that these tumours could have already established themselves probably even as I had my hysterectomy last September. My last CT scan was done in August 2020 and that only spotted 4cm tumour in my womb.
My grade was high grade 3 serous which is aggressive. My CNS described it like a dragon, opening its mouth and discharging cancer cells which multiply. Thankfully the chemo I'll be getting shoot toxins straight back at it and kill the cells.
I've always believed in honesty and not to sugar-coat things - that doesn't help anyone. I tell it like it is so I hope I haven't upset anyone! If you suspect something's not right get straight back to your CNS, they won't mind and will move mountains to get you sorted! In the meantime, don't start climbing the walls imagining something is up.
As I said in other posts, your fantastic support is helping me get through this. This time next week I'll be starting chemo.
Hugs to all, Barb xx
