Hi again

Well I had my diagnosis of breast cancer (I KNOW this is Womb cancer chat) in September and my lumpectomy on 8th October.  I saw my surgeon on Monday and one of the things she told me was my breast cancer WAS NOT connected to my endometrial cancer which I had a hysterectomy for in March this year. (Now you see the connection ?)

However, she did tell me that is was small, 13mm, but had been larger, 17mm, which had been reduced by the chemo which I had for my endometrial cancer.  We had to stop that in July because the side effects were, as my consultant said, giving me no quality of life.  NOW it seems, because my HER2 receptor test was positive, I will need chemotherapy again and possibly radiotherapy with biphosphates to protect my bones should it return.

I see oncologists tomorrow to see what they suggest.  They are supposed to be aware of the problems caused by the chemo so I am hoping they are not planning the same tie or dose as I know three sessions was all we agreed I could cope with.

I just wanted to update my friends on this forum.  I'm still thinking of you.

  • Hi Bonnie B,in the same boat, posted update in Class of 2017 Returnees, diagnosed 207 Serous Applied Cancer stage 1a no further treatment.

Roll on to my 77th birthday Aug 202 diagnosed with breast cancer..Had mastectomy as day patient.Pathology results were grade 3 Triple Negative for which the only treatment is chemo or radiotherapy.I was offered neither as surgeon confident she removed it all with clear margins?I am of the opinion it's an age thing the lack of further treatment.Hope I'm wrongLike you told not connected to my womb cancer.Good luck with your battle because we know that is what it is.Onwards and upwards.

  • Hi Bonny B, so sorry to hear your news. I hear all the time that things like this make you stronger! But how strong does one person need to be… So please know that I am sending my love, hugs and strength to you (as every little helps) for your appointment. You have got this my lovely and we have got you xxxx

  • Thank you for your update . I am sorry that your having to have chemo again i do hope its a bit more gentle on you this time. Cancer is a strange thing, ok that may sound strange, i was told that both womb and breast cancer can be related to each other but also can be not and be totally different primary cancers. I know I cannot take HRT as i am young and premenopausal before my hysterectomy, as i am high risk breast cancer. it all seems to depend on whether its a hormone driven cancer. I hope your appointment goes ok, fingers crossed for you.

    sending gentle bear hugs Bear
