So after being prepped for theatre two weeks ago and it being called off at the last minute. (Counting it as a practice run) I had another chance of my operation last week, but my husband got sent home the day before the op with signs of Covid. Luckily not Covid, but not so luckily Pneumonia instead. He is slowly getting better and I am all booked in for tomorrow. I am the first on the list and need to be at the hospital for 6:45am.
So….
Light diet - check, Enema’s - nearly done , 2nd one to go !!! (Seriously how much liquid is in those things).
Bag packed - check ( not unpacked since my last visit) , Nerves kicking in - double check.
I am so ready for this now and so hope 3rd time Lucky
This time tomorrow I will be on the right side of the op and will have said goodbye to my in uninvited resident
See you all on the flip side much love Em
Keeping fingers, toes - and absolutely everything that can be crossed - crossed for you!
Sending thoughts and love
Pippa xx
Thank you Em xxx what time can you remember being with it after the Op? Xxxx
I was second on the list and went down for my surgery at about 11am. I was back on the ward at about 5pm xx
Thanks Pippa, that gives me a rough time frame . Hope that you are doing ok after your op love Em xxxx
Mine was last December, which although it seems a long time ago, also feels like only yesterday. I can clearly remember how I felt on the day before, so am really thinking of you. The waiting is the worst bit and as you say, this time tomorrow it’ll all be done and you’ll be on the road to recovery. You can do this! Xxx
I was so surprised! I thought I’d be out of it all afternoon, I walked to theatre, around 9am, and it took a little longer as I had a spinal block anaesthetic to protect my spine as I have many issues with burst discs and compressed nerve to my leg, plus the general anaesthetic. The next thing I remember was around 1pm when I was back on the ward. I felt completely fine, to be honest I thought they hadn’t done it! I only needed paracetamol for what I would call slight discomfort. I ate fine and could drink straightaway. I literally drank peppermint tea as though it was going out of fashion! I was paranoid about reading of the ‘trapped wind’, and it wasn’t that bad. I came home 12.30 the next lunchtime, and it’s been fine. Just need to remember to take it easy, as from the outside there’s not much to see, but inside is a different story and needs to heal, but I haven’t had pain. Modern techniques are amazing, I remember my Mum having a hysterectomy back in the day & she was in hospital 2 weeks, and wasn’t allowed out of bed for 3 days! - how things have changed so much for the better. You will be absolutely fine craftqueen, I will be thinking of you, sending lots of love, Emm xx
Thank you Pippa and thank you for your kind words and so pleased you are doing well love Em xxx
Thank you Em, that’s made me feel so much better and I’ve got mint humbugs for afterwards as paranoid about the trapped wind
Thanks again love Em xxx
