Well 2 monts & 2weeks since I saw my gp, here I am in hospital Princess Ann Southampton had a full open hysterectomy loads of anesthetic,, great pain that night was given oral morphine, after op they put you in bed with pressure boots on to exercise leg muscles as your immobile, and turn you in the night,oh and a catheter, lucky I didn't need a drain, was sick all one day off my food, not nice, but here we are three days later after loss appitite I had some veg soup half bowl terrible wind pains, then this am very early my bowls came to life prob the soup it wasn't nice, but probably did the trick. We have to go back to bed in afternoon for rest but keep turning and walking to the toilet,oh did I mention bleeding after but only for 2 days even that has settle down to just a bit now. The surgeon has been great visited me twice and has reassured me that it takes time and I will get through it, I think I'm grateful to be in the hospital as I don't think I could have coped at home. BUT ALL things considered I'm still here to tell my tale and hope to go home sat or sun taking anti coagulation injections to use every day for 4 weeks, surgeon will see me at out patient in a couple weeks to discuss results and any further treatment. So thats my sorry tale but I can move now.
Hi Popsymum,
You are on the right side of it now my lovely, onwards and upwards , sending healing hugs I have my op Tuesday xxx
Hi , wow that sounds like it’s been really difficult time for you with your operation, but as many have said you will get though it. Its a matter of patience and understanding of our own body we all responded differently to the operations whether keyhole or open. I am sorry you have had a very rough time of it but good your getting about walking around even if it’s just going back and too the toilet, little steps and a case of walk before you can run it does get easier as we heal.
Sending gentle bear hugs

Thanks everyone im now home, they let me go sat afternoon as I could walk and go toilet unaided, sat and watched strictly last night dozed off in armchair couldn't get on the bed so slept in armchair on and off, though can manage the stairs and I can take dressing off on Mon scared, 5 am bowels moved again veg soup I could smell it, went out and made a cuppa felt bit better after, just had tea and toast for breakfast, will go up for a wash and dress later, then hopefully go back to sleep, on paracetamol and ibuprofen works well once you get them down have to break them up. I think the nights are the pits when you can't sleep cause your uncomfortable, my husband is looking after me well, my little dog has been learning not to jump on mummy as she's poorly he's learning to sit next to me and not on me. The nurses were great apart from the night shift, but they have the worst time of it as were all awake, they tell me it will get easier every day, I'm sure there right..
