Since I was diagnosed with cancer on the 10th August..was all optimistic I've gone from stage 1b1 squamous cell carcinoma to a plan of radical hysterectomy which was scheduled for the 30th Sept remove it be done and sorted a small chance it has spread.. I awoke from anaesthetic to be told they stopped the op as it had spread which I knew was a possibility low and behold happened to me. Today I have since found out they have re staged me as 2B for now the nurse said they will know more with results of a pet ct scan which I am still waiting for.  Since they canx the op I had no follow up from them no one to talk me through it and when I finally got through today they all thought I new what was happening awell they did whilst I was still under the influence of the anaesthetic so didn't take it all in Still I don't knw what they got planned for me and how it's all going to. Has anyone else been through similar where you had one diagnosis it's nd it's all changed overnight and not for the better. I think. The reality has just set in of the seriousnes sof it and am Still trying to process it and and reset my thought process for the coming tests and treatments and I will remain positive it just that every test they seem to do the outcome gets worse why can't they just do them all at once this waiting game is no joke.

  • @misfit2021. Hi Sharon. If I recall you mentioned your MDT was meeting on 4th? I think when the team get together they'll discuss the way forward and put you on the list for the hysterectomy as soon as possible. The problem is they're all discussing things between themselves and you're not being included in the loop at the moment. You couldn't be expected to take it all in whilst still under the influence of an anaesthetic. More will be apparent once you've had your pet scan so in the meantime try not to overthink things.

We all hate the endless waiting but nothing we can do will speed up the process sadly.

    Sending hugs, Barb x

  • Thank you. Ure not wrong there. Hopefully I won't have to wait to long.

  • Have you contacted your surgeon or asked to speak to the cancer nurse specialist who would have been involved? You should have someone who you can speak to and ask questions. It's totally unfair to leave you in the dark with your worries.

My surgeon came to see me after my op and said that there was no cancer, I was so relieved. Ten days later the CNS rang me to tell me that I have leiomyosarcoma which is a very rare and aggressive cancer and that I was being transferred to the sarcoma consultant at the Christie hospital in Manchester.

Be firm when you ring the surgeons secretary and insist on either the CNS or the surgeon ringing you to give you the right information.

    Take care, Deb

  • Hi yeh I rang them and got info I needed well a step closer. My pet ct scan is today at 4 so once this is done they should have the answers and a plan formulated ASAP. I can't believe that happened to you from good news to bad news. Thanks guys x
