Hi ladies
I am well aware that hair loss is a given and my wig is on order. My first of 6 treatments is next week and wondering how soon you ladies experienced significant hair loss? I like to be organised and know what to expect so just curious.
Thank you

Hi Katlee, my hair started coming out after my second Chemotherapy session. My hair had been in poor condition from after my hysterectomy so i wasn't too upset about it. I had been in Hospital after my first Chemo session and a lovely lady who was on the same ward as me and whose hair was just starting to grow back advised me to get my hair cut short. She said that was easier than finding long hair all over the house. I chose not to get a wig. Bought some scarves, for when I go out. I find that they make my head very hot, so don't usually wear them at home .
Hi Liz62
Thank you for replying it is appreciated. I was thinking of getting my hair cut shorter as it is quite long and thick and think it would be a bit less traumatic. My daughter is poised to shave it whenever I want, fortunate that she is a hairdresser.
I’ve got a couple of scarves to experiment with too and see what I like. Hope you are doing well

Hi Katlee,
My daughter had chemo for breast cancer and it started falling out after the second round. She found clumps on her pillow and decided to shave it all off. She had a wig, but found it too hot. One day her 18 month old escaped out the door and she ran after her bare headed. They came back an hour later having been to a church fete!! She said people could have her bare headed, or not at all!! Her hair grew back very curly eventually, which was lovely. It returned to being straight again after a while Good luck xxx
Hi Katlee, I had my 1st round of Chemo yesterday ( 8th Sept ) and had a meet up with the In house Salon in the hospital to discuss wig options. you asked my question for me lol about timing of loss, so thankyou for that. I had a chat with a few ladies whilst having treatment and all commented on the wigs being hot to wear, but I am assuming as we are fast approaching the winter months this may not be too much of a problem, only time will tell. I have bought some lovely 'chemo headwear' for use for everyday wear to get me used to them and saw some beauties with lots of bling on for christmas !! I imagine I will keep the wig for going out in the evening or at weekend for example ( that being said I am still a little concerned of going out socially due to weak immune system but hope to have some family gathering as its my birthday in January and its a special one as I will be 66 and officially retireing ! It's all just another step forward from what has/is a stressful time for all of us.....Good Luck and Take Care x x x
Hi nannyjanet I've just read your post. Hope you're not feeling too bad after your first round of chemo on Wednesday.
Your comment about blingy wigs brought a smile to my face - who would have thought of that!! I'm a big lover of bling and feel I've missed out by not having had chemo - firstly unable to experiment with different colours and styles and now missing out on the party variety! Mind you don't party nowadays!
Sending hugs, Barb xx
