I had this op last Tuesday. Amazing! Woke up ages after op with no pain, only signs were catheter, oxygen and drip. Could have gone home on Wednesday but waterworks playing up.
I returned home on Thursday and everything great since then. Twinges when I coughed but that has got better (.anaesthetic). Managing well on my own (I’m 78) with son bringing me shopping.  Being super careful about lifting, bending etc. Housework can wait! Went for a little walk around gardens of apartments last evening.

Still self isolating until results of sentinel node biopsy comes back - it was Stage 3. Feeling happy, pain free and very positive. Know I’ve been very, very lucky.

  • Hi Justmeoap,

Glad to hear you are doing well. I too, had waterworks problems and was kept in for two nights.(I was 72 at the time) Keep going with the walking. I'm sure it helps you recover. xxx

Thanks. Really feel positivity and being super careful helps. Had waterworks problems before but such a nuisance. Best wishes

  • Hi , great to hear your op went well & your feeling great. I agree having a major op like this done laparoscopically is a doddle. I too didn't have pain, just minor discomforts, well able to cope with. The fact you're managing so well on your own is a great positive message to the new ladies among us who are so anxious.

As you say, housework can wait, I got away without hoovering for ages until hubby sussed me out !But the important thing is not bending or lifting and listen to your body.

Come back and tell us when you get your results - more bloomin' waiting!

    Sending hugs, Barb xx Hugging

Thanks. I’m usually impatient but it’s more important to do things right. Hope we can allay people’s fears. x

  • So glad it went well but remember to take it easy. My op is on Tuesday. I'm waking up every hour on the hour with my mind working overtime. Deb

Please switch off your worry button. It’s not helping and you shouldn’t worry about things you have no control of. Just be positive and it will be fine. So much better than expected. Plan for the future. I hope all goes well x

  • Thank you  I have mine scheduled tomorrow and trying not to get too anxious. Hearing your experience has really helped! I wish you a continued strong recovery

  • Hi . How are you doing after your op?

    Hi justmeoap

I'm so glad you are healing well, I'm sending you healing thoughts for a speedy recovery. I have my op on Monday.

    Take care Blush

  • good luck for your op on Monday. how are you after your op ? And so good to hear your op went well and I know sometimes the waterworks act up but i am glad you were able to go home quickly, good luck with your results. I was in hospital overnight and went home the next evening . Most manage to get home the next day it obviously depends whether its open surgery or keyhole because they do tend to keep you a little longer with open surgery, but most of find that in general no matter how its preformed must will say its far better then we expected. Its natural that we worry about having a major op but I remember thinking i just wanted this offensive thing out of me.

Sending best wishes for a fast recovery and remember be gentle with yourself. Sending gentle bear hugs Bear
