I won't bore you with all the details but I have non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Last year between September and boxing Day I was admitted to hospital 8 times with bleeding from the esophagus and stomach. It's called melena. I haven't had any episodes for about 4 months but it's started again today. I should go into hospital but we only live 10 minutes away so I'm going to wait and see if it gets worse before I go. I'm due to have my total hysterectomy on the 13th July which will be done in what they call the green area which is totally covid free. If I'm admitted to a ward with my current problem I don't know if they will still operate. The op has already been postponed for two weeks due to high blood sugar levels and I just want it done. Deb

  • Hi , yeah i totally get your frustration and just want to get the operation done as soon as possible. Or as i put it i just wanted this offensive thing out of me. I am sorry to hear about your problems with your blood sugar and sorry to hear your bleeding from the oesophagus and stomach and your worry it will delay your op again especially as its already been postponed. Its a difficult one a catch 22 do you wait and hopefully it subsides or do you go and get it sorted out. Perhaps your can go for the middle let your CNS and oncologist know your having problems with it again and can they work around it? Maybe they can i unfortunately wouldn’t know but if your bad on the day they could still decide to postpone especially if they aren’t aware in advance. Its a difficult choice and a very frustrating one if it delays things again and i so hope it doesn’t. I would recommend those contacting your CNS though explain your concerns it would delay things again and is there something they can do, there is still time for it to subside before the 13th and i wish you luck on this, for now though sending you a gentle bear hug Bear
