I've recently been diagnosed with endometrisl cancer and im waiting for my mri results but after researching a bit I started getting confused about life expectancy and the % part made it even more confusing when I came across it.

5 year seemed to be referred to a lot and now its made me think that if your diagnosed with this type of cancer does ot mean that you will have up to 5 years to live?

I apologise if I come across a bit thick but there doesn't seem to be anything out there about the life expectancy on the cancers when its graded

  • Hi , I answered this question in your other post perhaps a double post has come up here, however I will say your not at all think, its easy to get really stressed and scared when you hear cancer and all the unknowns. But the five years that you refer too is the time of the mostly likely time you will get a recurrence and you will be monitored depending on your individual stage and treatment and depends on how your team works, as everyone can be different. You could have regular face to face checks, over the phone by them to check on you or a patient lead situation where you contact them with any new symptoms. Everything of course depends on your stage and treatment. I was stage 1a grade 2 total hysterectomy then on 3 monthly checks for 2years then 6 monthly checks and now I contact them with new symptoms I know I am complicated due to other underlying issues that make it difficult to know what's causing what but I have reported everything to them and let them decide on course of action.

Hope this gives you reassurance and sending you a big hug.

Good luck with your scan results and what treatment your team comes up with.
