Hi...

Never thought I’d need to use a forum like this.

My mum (60’s) has been diagnosed with papillary serous carcinoma after a scan and biopsy. The scan was completely clear and the biopsy was only optional as a precaution, so the results are even more shocking. She only had a few days of spotting over the last couple of months.
We’re all dazed and confused. We know she’s having a CT and MRI scan and will have a hysterectomy and removal of everything else.

Can’t even process it. I have a child and it’s difficult trying to live a normal life.

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with papillary serous carcinoma. It must be a very difficult time for the whole family and it's perfectly normal to feel like you do.

I didn't have this type of cancer but I've found this information (link) for you on womb cancer and how it's treated. As you'll see most women are offered treatment to cure womb cancer.

You might also find it helpful to take a look through this information from Macmillan on 'your feelings when someone has cancer' as it has tips on how to cope and where to go for help if you feel that you're not coping.

I hope you don't mind if I suggest that you also think about joining the Family and friends forum group as it's a safe and supportive place to share your worries about your mum with others who have a loved one with cancer. If you'd like to do this just click on the link I've created and then select 'click to join' on the page that opens.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi I was, diagnosed four years ago and am still going strong with lymph node involvement only no major organs about to start fourth line chemo and have stayed positive and travelled in between treatments.Hope your Mum  gets a good outcome too.Mine was stage 4 at diagnosis.

  • Hi @JcE NZ I hope you are doing well. i also hope you dont mind me asking how things are with you now? Best wishes and stay well.

  • Hi . Hi there, just noticed you've replied to a post over a year old. Just thought I'd mention you might not get a reply. Often when member's treatments finish they leave the forum as having had cancer is a time of their life they'd rather forget.

    Hugs, Barb xx
