There is now a case confirmed close to where I live. People who have been in contact with the person will have been to places I go to. I don't want to panic but am feeling anxious now. I'm due chemo 4 on Tuesday and thinking should I just play safe and stay home.
Hi Nina I am anxious too.I am having weekly chemo.I live in London and I am using public transport. Now I am thinking if it get worse to cancel for a while the chemo. They saying the face mask doesnt help but I am wearing it all the time. Also wearing gloves and washing them regularly.
Some people are so disquisting on the tube dont cover their face when sneezing or coughing.Whats the point of washing hands if the droplets will get on your face?So i have stockpiled the masks. Its so dangerous sometimes i dont want to even leave the house.
I think that the way to look at it is, are you more worried about a bug you might never get? Or are you more worried about the cancer you definitely have?
I personally, at this point, wouldn't be cancelling my treatments for the thing I have because I was worrying about something I might not get.
Best thing to do is to phone your nurses, explain your travel arrangements to and from chemo, and ask what the NHS advice is. Then follow that.

I have no medical training, everything I post is an opinion or educated guess. It is not medical advice.
Whoops. Realise I didn't put that quite right.
What I meant was am I best just staying at home apart from any medical appointment or treatment. I'm fortunate as can travel to and from our hospital by car, in better weather and when I have the energy I can even walk. I think if I had to use public transport I would use a taxi or ask for hospital transport.
Hi Nina thats good you have a car.we dont have and I cant afford every week to pay 40 poud for a cab and "I am too well" for hospital transport.I can walk long distances withou help I doubt they would give me a hospital transport.Thats why is worrying for me.Yes I dont have to catch it but people with weak immunity or other medical issues can catch it easier.
