Dear all,
My wife had her first chemotherapy last Tuesday. All went well and she came home with the prescribed meds to take which she has now completed.
Since the chemotherapy she has been without pain, which is the first time since Christmas and has not needed to take any painkillers so this is very good.
Since yesterday she has been feeling without energy, no pains but achy. Her temperature is normal. What I wanted to ask is if this is what others have experienced after their chempotherapy please.
Many thanks
Hi. Yes it is quite normal. Rest is essential lots of fluids as well. Ah you sound so caring. I am so pleased that your wife has no pain, how wonderful for you both.
I find that good fats are great to boost your energy levels, avocado on toast, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Just things that are easy to digest .
Take care of yourself as well please.
Sending you a gentle hug,
LC

Hi, Thanks for this. I was wondering if it was to do with the meds finishing that might have been holding off the effects of the chemo but it's good to know this is normal.
So it's scrambled egg and avocado tomorrow! - thanks for the tips. She's rested today and seems better this evening and drinking plenty of fluids as you say.
The next chemo is at the start of March so it gives a couple of weeks to build herself up ready.
Many thanks and have a good evening
Hi,
I think what your wife is experiencing is quite normal. I nursed my daughter through chemotherapy, so have seen most of the side effects!! She was Ok directly after the chemo whilst on the steroids. It hit her when she came off the steroids for a couple of days. In the second week she gained a bit of strength, and by the third week you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with her. Just for it all to start again! After the first round the pattern was the same, so we knew what to expect. She got gradually more tired by the end of treatment and once was hospitalized because of a cold. Six years on she is fine, so well worth it. She drank loads of water, and actually still does!! Best wishes to you both.xx
Thank you very much for your reply. I did wonder if the meds were holding back some side effects as you mention and at least we know what to expect as treatment continues.
She has also noticed that she has 'pins and needles ' in her hands and sometimes face and legs on and off.
Thanks again for your helpful reply and we wish your daughter continued good health.
Best wishes
