Hello everyone
I'm looking for advice please.
I'm post menopause 5 years, age 42 now.
Dec 2017 I had bleeding on wiping when passing urine for 3 days. Had spotting from Aug to Nov 2017.
Saw gynae. Arranged hysteroctopy, when I came round from anesthetic consultant told. Me All looked normal with naked eye! She didn't take any biopsies.
My husband also became poorly with cancer in Feb 2017, looking after him working and keeping normality for kids plus I was feeling poorly, pushed it to the side.
2018 struggled with sheer Exhaustion and was anemic Dr's put it down to stress of hubby being so ill, I stated noticing thick clear sometimes dark discharge on wiping.
My husband died 8th Nov 2018, 2019 I was completly broken in a dark hole not coping with his death and existing day by day for the children.
Began with chronic pain in cocsix lower back in 2019, and would go through episodes of having a wee sometimes half. Hour later sometimea within in 5 mins going the toilet is get a gush of assuming urine but like when waters break, went GP as it was becoming. More frequent told me too do pelvic floor! Each time tested urine there was traces of blood never infection.
28th Oct 2019 I began spotting, each time having wee blood would be on tissue, GP tested urine trace blood no infection said she didn't know cause.
Pain was getting worse along with pain right side almost stabbing in ovary, discharge became more frequent and the loss of urine, also I struggle to wee it's like it takes ages to go and when I do it's really slow, I stop then start again.
I made appt see GP as pain in cocsix unvareable I can't sit on my bottom its too painful. Also I began with constipation in Sept 2019, even taking laxatives was hit and miss on working.
8 have crohns disease so I'm the opposite and would go up to 4 times a day until then.
Pain was really bad whjle waiting see gp decided to have a wee before going in, when I went the toilet I was bleeding heavily! Talk about perfect timing.
Seen GP who said no point examining if bleeding and referred me to gynae for colpooscopy.
This took place 6th Dec, it was really painful when doing internal scan almost. On the right as the probe pressed down, it was too painful tolerate felt there was something there. Hard too explain, the woman said my cervix looked bulky, lining was OK at 7mm cyst right ovary, the consultant then seen me tried to do colp it was unvareable, she noticed a white patch on vulva and said she would do biopsies of vulva and colp under GA I'd get a letter for date.
Xmas day I was sat most of the day pain was horrendous felt sick with it. Exhausted light headed, me and the kids were at a friend's I went to lay down at 5pm as I felt poorly. When I woke I felt wet and seen I was bleeding, when I stood I was flooding this went on from 25th Dec til 3rd Jan changing pads every 30 mins.
I rang the hospital chasing appt and told them it had gotten worse, to be told they couldn't find me on the system, turned out the consultant had somehow discharged me in error case was closed, they apogised asked me to attend 6th Jan.
I. Seen the reg who was lovely and thorough, she asked if I'd had the vulva and colp biopsies as she couldn't find results, I explained I'd been discharge in error that's why I was here, I updated her with heavy bleeding etc, she tried to examine me too painful and said she wanted too do hysteroctopy under GA she wanyed to run it past the lead consultant, she came in listened to the reg, and said to me we will have you in withing 2 weeks for biopsies given symptoms and post menopause.
I still dont have a date to go in, I've left messages on sec answer machine, womens day care noone calls me back. I managed to speak to a nurse on weds basically told me consultant shouldn't have told me within 2 weeks, as no theatres available until April when new budget kicks in!, the only working theatres are for emergencies via A&E.
My anxiety is getting worse as days pass, I am worried especially after loosing my husband our kids only have me, I don't have support network I'm at a lost end with it all on where too go next with it
Sorry for the long post
Can bleeding symptoms etc be something and nothing? The 1st consultant I saw said it coukd be from the vaginal wall as it thins longer in menopause, when I said that to the 2nd consultant and reg they said no it woukdnt cause heavy bleeding.
I would be grateful on how I can push for this date sooner as April seems a million miles off if it is something. More serious, I'm so exhausted all the time finding myself light headed, pain comes and goes, I've not has another bleeped since the last, loosing urine more frequent
Has anyone gone through similar symptoms as me? What was diagnosis
Thankyou in advance for reading and if you reply, I didn't know where else to turn, in not sleeping well worrying about it, even harder the fact hubby is not here to cuddle and tell me ill be OK and not worry x
Goodness you have had lots to deal with lovely. I give you a hug if I could! I would not like to suggest you anything wrong but I do feel you need to push to be seen sooner. I had some of your symptoms but not all. I would not want you to think anything sinister. I went to my GP and was referred on the 2 week protocol which I understood to be national??? I may be wrong. All follow ups from there are booked as needed. I had my appointment in 10 days and all ultrasounds and biopsies were done there and then. Could you possibly visit your GP and ask for some support?? There are some nursing staff available on this website too. Maybe they can offer some guidance for you. Try to have some rest. Xx
Hi WidowAngel,
You have had a lot to cope with, and I think you need to be seen earlier. When I was diagnosed my doctor asked a companion if he should fast, fast track me. The answer was NO, but it shows it is possible. I'd go back to the doctor and see if he can push things.
My daughter once had problems passing urine. Nobody would take her seriously and was treated for cystitis for about a year. When she eventually broke down in tears at A and E it was found out she had an ovarian cyst the size of an orange in there pressing on her bladder. She had the ovary removed, and was fine afterwards. Your problems could be anything, but you need to be seen. xxxxxx
Dear WidowAngel
First of all let me say how very sorry I am that you have had so much to deal with over the past few years. You are juggling so much and from your post it sounds like you are doing an amazing job caring and supporting your children through such a challenging time.
I especially empathise with you as I also have Crohns disease so I know the challenges of living with that illness, let alone coping with additional health problems.
From what you have described in terms of your symptoms I really do not think it is realistic at all for you to have to wait until April for further tests. My advice would be to contact the Patient Advisory Liaison Service (PALS) at your local hospital tomorrow and explain the situation. They can support you by advocating on your behalf for you to be seen more quickly. My experience from the past is that once PALS get involved an earlier appointment is somehow magically found! I also wondered whether you could look for some support from the Macmillan team who may have been involved in caring for your husband? I'm fairly certain that Macmillan offer ongoing support to bereaved families?
I really hope that you are able to get some medical advice soon to put your mind at rest.
I'm thinking of you.
X
For problems of the type you are experiencing there are specific deadlines which have to be met. My first referral came from the walk in unit to the gynae department and from there for a hysteroscopy. Can you phone gynae where you were treated to ask about having hysteroscopy at another hospital?
Dear Widowangel, how sorry I am that you find yourself amongst us. PALS would be good for your first stop, but PALS are not independent, they work for the hospital. If you find you are banging your head against a brick wall and no one is listening then ask for an independent advocate, they can support you, they work WITH you. I think the time they are asking you to wait is totally unacceptable. I know it takes a lot of energy but as I was told not long ago on here make a lot of noise ! Jump up and down and they do start to listen.
Keep us posted, and start banging your drum !!!!!!!!

My heart goes out to you after everything you’ve had to cope with.
I was fast tracked on the two week referral by my GP and I had only experienced two days of post menopausal bleeding.
Ring the hospital tomorrow and insist on being seen urgently. Speak to the consultant’s secretary.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Sending a hug x
