I had a 1b grade 2 endometrial cancer July 2019 . At my first 3 monthly check-up in November my oncologist didn't examine me at all and only asked how I was feeling, but I notice many of the group have had internal examinations and transvaginal ultrasounds and scans at their check ups. I am just coming up to my next 3 monthly check-up. Do you think i should ask for scans and an internal? What have others in the group experienced and do you have any suggestions for useful questions to ask? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks. Gill
Hi Gill, I had internals every six months for two years (nothing at my first appointment after 3months, just a chat). I'll get my next check up in August, which is a year since my last one. I don't get any scans but I get some spotting and persistent back pain so they sent me for an MRI last summer, which was thankfully clear.
id recommend asking about any local groups or counselling that you can access (even if you don't use it, it's handy to know where you can get support).
I always found my anxiety built towards my appointments, keeping busy helps a bit, good luck and let us know how you get on

I had my surgery in December 2018 and brachytherapy in February 2019. I’ve had a chat and an internal examination at every check up since. I suppose everyone is different. Do ask at your next one why they think an examination is unnecessary
Thanks, Galanthophile. Good advice. I will ask for an internal at the appointment if I'm not offered one. It seems the majority of ladies here have them.

Thanks, Julie. Useful to know. Hopefully, I'll. get an internal examination as well as the chat this time.
Hi Jagger,
I was stage 1A, grade 2 and had just the operation with lymph nodes removed. I had an internal examination after 3 months and was dreading it. In the end it was OK!! Didn't hurt at all!! After one more check I was put onto this patient led initiative, and have heard no more from anybody since!
I asked how I would know if I had a recurrence and they said a discharge or bleeding was the usual sign.
I would have thought you should have had an examination at the next one at least and I think I would ask about it.xxxx
