Hi, I've just been to the hospital today for the third time as I've had abnormal bleeding after menopause. I recently had a hysterocopy in June last year and November. The last time I was told the lining was 19mm, now its 29mm. I'm concerned as I've been told that I will have to have another hysterocopy, but the nurse was going to speak to the consultant to see if something else needed to be done, such as a coil being fitted. Has anybody else had this?, also is this likely to lead to a hysterectomy and not a coil.
Hi lolls123
I notice you haven’t had a reply so wanted to bump your message back up so it gets noticed.
‘Im sorry I can’t be of any help as my symptoms were quite different to yours. However I am sure some of the lovely ladies on here will be along soon to share their knowledge
If not you can put a message in the ask a nurse section.
best wishes x
Great advice from Christmas2019. Sorry to hear about your worries, you certainly have been through a lot . I was diagnosed with womb cancer just before I was 38 and very much before the menopause so obviously my symptoms and treatment may well be very different. However any bleeding post menopause is a red flag to get you checked out and you have been doing the right things and being checked. As for hysterectomy vs coil I honestly couldn't say as I am not medically trained but I will give you the link for Ask a Nurse, there one of our lovely nurses may be able to shed a bit of light on your question. Have you been given a date for your next hysteroscopy? Its possible they may do other scans too as this would give them an idea of what's going on.
Fingers crossed for you and welcome to the community and I just wanted to send you a gentle hug.

Hi GBear, I have another hysterocopy booked for Friday. Fingers crossed this time. I will ask the nurse, although need to work out how to do that, as I also seem to be peeing alot, which I'm not sure if that is also part of whatever is happening down there.
Good luck on Friday, I hope it goes well. Definitely worth mentioning about needing to pee a lot that could be lots of reasons for but no harm in mentioning it just incase. The more information they have, the better then can help you. Fingers crossed.

Hi ,
I do hope you get more answers tomorrow. You seem to have had several hysteroscopies since you went to your GP. Did they take a biopsy after any of them? You don't say if you were referred under the 2 week rule initially. this is the Nice recommendation for any post menopausal bleeding.
From what I have read here, treatment with a coil for a thickened lining is largely suggested for younger women who want to preserve their fertility/avoid an early menopause. Sometimes for older women, health issues may make surgery risky and then the other treatments may be suggested. Whatever this hysteroscopy shows I would hope you will been now be seen by a consultant who will help you understand what is happening.
Good Luck
