Lymph nodes

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year

I am four weeks post hysterectomy and noticed two little lumps in my groin area a few days after surgery. I mentioned it to my CSN but she thought they might be caused by overheating?

I’m wondering if they are swollen lymph glands. Has anyone had this problem and any advice? Got to be honest; I’m putting off any further prodding and poking but could I be storing up more problems?

i have a clinic appointment for post surgery results next Wednesday so trying to hang on til then.

  • Yes, definitely mention the swollen lymph nodes to the surgeon. It may be that you're fighting a mild infection and that's why they're swollen. Xxx

  • Thanks Jagger46

another two small lumps have appeared and genital area now red and itching.

my surgery was planned to remove some lymph nodes but this wasn’t done because extensive endometriosis found which meant surgery went on longer and I guess they ran out of time.

I did mention it to my CNS but she seemed unconcerned. I know it’s all too easy for us to fear every symptom is due to cancer but I have left things unchecked in the past and am now paying the price.

my GP is closed over the weekend and I don’t want to go to walk in clinic for fear of catching something else!

I’ve never had this problem with lymph nodes in the groin area before and don’t know if it’s a common thing or could be signs of the cancer spreading.

Any advice would be much appreciated

  • I would go to your GP first thing on Monday morning and ask them to examine you. The soreness and itching sound very much like an infection, so I wouldn't worry too much over the weekend unless it gets worse, but think you'll need some antibiotics to clear it up. If you feel anxious, you could ask your GP to contact your surgeon's secretary to arrange an internal just to check all is OK . Xxx
