Hi all. I had a total hysterectomy and bso three months ago.

I had a vault smear in november due to the location of my cancer. This came back clear.

Woke up this morning, went for a wee. When I wiped there were two dots of bright red blood on the tissue.

I have a cough and wonder if this could have caused the bleed.

Any advice, not sure whether to contact cns for just a few spots.

  • Hi Claracat,

I think the coughing could well have caused your bleed, but I'd ring your CNS to be on the safe side. xxxx

  • Hi there,

The fact that you noticed the spotting post weeing suggests that it might be a UTI> I'd pop to your GP to get your urine tested for infection, as well as contacting your CNS> Always best to get these things checked out. xxx

    Thanks NannyAnny and Jagger 46.

I will contact cns nurse, it hasn't happened since so I don't feel too concerned.

Never thought about a UTI, so will bear that in mind.

    Thanks

    Hi

A UTI is a Urinary Tract Infection.... Hope this helps, G n' J

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can affect different parts of your urinary tract, including your bladder (cystitis), urethra (urethritis) or kidneys (kidney infection). Most UTIs can be easily treated with antibiotics.

To check if it's a urinary tract infection (UTI)

    Symptoms of a UTI include:

    • needing to pee suddenly or more often than usual
    • pain or a burning sensation when peeing
    • smelly or cloudy pee
    • blood in your pee
    • pain in your lower tummy
    • feeling tired and unwell
    • in older people, changes in behaviour such as severe confusion or agitation
