Hello!!!

So today I had my hysterectomy today after suspicious ultrasound. Biopsy taken and suspicious polyp removed.

However Dr said afterwards that I’ll need to have a colposcopy (biopsy of cervix) as it looks abnormal (despite a clear smear test in February)

As I was half asleep from the general anaesthetic I didn’t ask why they didn’t just do it at the time?

Anyone else experienced this? What was outcome? Did they not do it due to permission  or something else?

Lol I thought that’s wht u meant yes they normally do biopsies at the hysteroscopy especially if you have polyps or a thickened lining

They did the biopsy of the thickened lining and removed the polyp but said I also need cervix biopsy - but didn’t do it??? Maybe because I was just a day case and if they do cone biopsy it’s overnight.... or they’ll wait and see what lining and polyp results are??

Just annoying they didn’t do it while they were already in there?!

Hi Brook, I had a hyserroscopy, polypectomy and cone biopsy carried out under GA as a day surgery patient.

Maybe it was a consent issue?

Hope everything gets sorted for you quickly.

    Hi Claracat

Do you mind me asking if you have had your results bk yet ?

  • Hi Brook,

I don't know your age, but when I was in my 20's (now 70's) I had something suspicious on the neck of the womb. I never asked what it was and they cauterised it. That actually weakened the neck of my womb and I lost two babies. Before my hysterectomy the consultant wanted to know about this (the neck must have looked a mess because I then had two babies stitched in there!!!) She said 'oh we don't do it like that anymore'. I would be intrigued to know what they do these days, maybe radiotherapy?( less invasive)

As far as I can remember I was in hospital for a couple of days and it just felt like a period pain, but they may do something different now.  xxxxxx

    Hi AnnyNanny,

I’m 42, had 3 babies via vaginal delivery.

No results yet and not sure when I’ll get them?

I was sent for urgent scan after seeing GP, and was then referred to oncology gynae who did hysteroscopy yesterday.

I think I’ll just to be patient and see what they say when I’m more wake when I next see them!!! Just wish they did that biopsy at the same time if they thought it looked dodgy!!!

    Hi Brook,

Just wanted to say I am thinking of you. You are a bit further along than me in your investigations. I have just been referred for an urgent scan after seeing my GP.

I hope you get the results quickly.
