i had my keyhole hysterectomy in December and three sessions of brachytherapy in February. Now I’m finding I am getting a lot of pain in my abdomen and especially around one of the wound sites. Is this normal? I still don’t feel great, in fact I felt better about a month ago that I do now. Due back to work at the beginning of May.

  • Hi,

I still get 'niggles' occasionally, but not pain. And that is one and half years afterwards!  I think I would get it checked out.

Some twenty years ago I fell off my motorbike (stopped too suddenly). I still get 'niggles ' where my arm broke, especially in cold weather. I've decided my arm and tummy will never feel the same, but I am still here!

  • Hi Galanthophile I'd say it is absolutely normal, especially as you had brachytherapy as well.  It is early days yet.  Everything inside has to settle down into its new position after the surgery and also has to recover from the brachytherapy.  I was still feeling discomfort occasionally at least until Christmas, having had surgery in May and completing radiotherapy and brachytherapy early September.  The healing process takes longer than we think.  Having said that. I would get it checked out in case you have an infection.  In any case I hope you feel better soon xxxx
