Hey so I’m 2 weeks post keyhole surgery to remove my ovaries and also address some pretty bad adhesions. Recovery isn’t going swimmingly and today after a GP appt penicillin 4 x day for a week! I ao had a really heavy bleed and passed a pretty big clot! Since then the bleed has settled thank goodness! This is my second surgery in 2years. My first was an open abdominal total hysterectomy with
allopian tubes, ovaries left. Diagnosis was stage 1 endometrial cancer. Im just feeling deflated and frustrated almost stepping backwards. I’m awaiting the pathology of the new removed organs and h
ing that they are clear of anything untoward! Trying to keep incisions clean and aired is really tricky especially in the heat! Also the incoming medically induced menopause
Anyway that’s my moan I guess Thankyou for reading!! Xx
Hi Pookieboo
So sorry to hear you’re having a tough time and no need to apologise for moaning - you’ve earned the right!
I was ‘lucky’ in that I got it all over and done with at once: womb, cervix, tubes and ovaries all removed via open abdominal surgery just over a year ago. They also ‘washed’ my peritoneal cavity to check for stray cells.
My wait for lab results was long (5 weeks) but my friend came up a great piece of advice, “Park the pathology!” At first, I found that easy to do. I was just so relieved to have the surgery behind me and was determined to put the ‘what ifs’ to the back of my mind and focus on my recovery. However, as the weeks passed and I started to feel stronger, the worry started to creep back in again. I got through it by reminding myself what my surgeon told me - just as results that come back quickly don’t necessarily mean good/bad news, neither do results that take a bit longer. It just means extra tests have had to be done to give the pathologists the full picture.
Hope you feel better soon. Look after yourself.
It is indeed. Harder still when you have young family (I just had a 62 year old husband at home!) but hopefully they keep you busy and help take your mind off things too.
Hopefully your lab results will be fine but, even if further treatment is required, you’ll at least have a plan. As a control freak I find I always feel better when I’m in the driving seat! The not knowing is definitely the worst part.
Stay strong and remember we’re all here and rooting for you x
