Hello all, sending love and best wishes to you all..

I had my hysterectomy on the 14th Feb at the women’s in Liverpool.. 7.30am admission went down at 2.30pm was a long morning .. I was quite busy as I had taken part in 2 trials.. one for detection of cancer without waiting for ultra sound and one around the drug that reverses the muscle relaxants when in recovery.
I was up and out of bed Saturday morning, a good wash and a wander for a decent coffee. Staff amazing from start to end. Discharged around 6pm Saturday evening.I feel am doing well,  pain at times but nothing unbearable  still bloated and full of wind. I get up and walk indoors every hour or so, going try a short walk Outside today

I am eating and drinking well the one thing I am struggling with is the blood thinning injection.. feel a right wimp just attempted the needle in 3 places before I managed to get all the way in.. only on day 2 .

i am quite looking forward to a Cple of weeks of doing not a lot :-)expecting results in 3 weeks, all will hopefully be ok as low grade snd very early stage.
wishing everyone the best of luck on their journey xx

much love Maria xx

  • Well done on getting that out of the way, and wishing you well for your recovery. Enjoy those walks

  • Well done on getting through that. Enjoy the rest and walks and fingers crossed those results are better than expected. Hoping to get my surgery date this week....

  • Glad it has all gone well best wishes on road to recovery . Still waiting on a date for my hysterectomy .

  • Hey you sound just the same as me I had mine on the 12th Feb. So pleased to get it done and now just steadily  rrecovering.

  • Well done. I’m now on day 23 post surgery. It really does get better every day. Don’t push yourself. I will also be VERY glad to finish the blood thinning injections. I pushed one in too fast and my stomach went black and blue. A haetoma, apparently, and nothing to worry about, but was dramatic!

  • It's a while since I had to do the injections but I remember! I ended up chilling the area first and it made a big difference. I didn't freeze it, just a quick dab with a bag of frozen peas seemed to help. Best wishes for your recuperation.

  • My hysterectomy is scheduled 3rd March at Liverpool Women’s so I was glad to read your post.
Mine is abdominal due to multiple fibroids and a ‘busy uterus’, so am expecting to be in 4 days.
it was reassuring to read your post about excellent care.

im grade 1, stage 1 but am anxious about the results after the op already as read about people being upstaged/upgraded.
    wishing you the best x

  • Upgrading does happen occasionally I was told, but I was also told that usually it comes out the same. Apparently MRIs tend to be pretty accurate for this type of cancer. It’s ’good’ news so far and is very likely to continue to be so. Good luck.

  • Potentially a daft question but have you been able to sleep on your side post surgery or do you have to be flat for a while? x

  • I slept flat the first night but since then with some wiggling around to get comfortable and using a pillow for support I’ve managed me side.
