Hello to all in this very helpful group, I received my diagnosis of Womb Cancer in early December 2022.

1 month before my 70th. Birthday, to say I was shocked is an understatement.I was feeling well within myself and suddenly I was facing C.T scan, and decisions on treatment ahead. The CT scan proved to be a good result and was advised that the Cancer was contained,

So my treatment would be Hysterectomy and further procedure may be required such as radiotherapy

I had my hysterectomy on the 14/2/23 and discharged on the 16/2/23, I am trying to keep to walking  programme of 5 to ten minutes each day as well as walking as much as possible within my home,I am also trying to eat a balanced healthy diet, to help with my recovery.

I am happy to report that the pain has been minimal and well controlled, the only major pain for me was on Monday 27/2 and Tues 28/2/ I was unable to sleep due to extreme pain in my left shoulder and left upper back, I couldn’t lie on left side, just wondering if anyone within the group can identify with this kind of pain 2 weeks after surgery. Has settled down a bit now. GP prescribed pain relief which has helped. It just came as a bit of a shock to my body as I had fortunately not experienced pain immediately after my surgery. I now await my pathology results, which I was advised should be within 3 to 4 weeks from surgery. Thank you for allowing me to share this part of my journey.

    Hi

Welcome to the group, sounds like you're doing really well. The shoulder pain sounded like gas/wind from the surgery but not sure due to it being 2 weeks after the surgery when it started. I'm pleased you got sorted with it though. I'm sure the other ladies of the group will be along soon, if you want to read any of our profiles, just click on our usernames. All the best to you for your continued recovery and results.

  • Hello Scotty142 and welcome, I agree with Sistermoon that it sounds like pain from anaesthesia gas and it should get better, you could call your CNS and report this to them? Take care xx

  • Hi Scotty142, thank you for your update! I had my hysterectomy and radiotherapy last year for grade 1a stage 2. I had 25 radio sessions April-May 2022. There’s a radiotherapy support thread - here’s the link - in case you’d like to read up on other people’s experiences, get some useful tips or ask questions.
