Thank you lovely ladies for your kind replies. You have helped me so much! I now have a date for the op which is next week on Thursday. So will isolate from tomorrow.
I have read your blog marmitefan, really useful. I am still having pain but no bleeding and all easier to bear as the Operation is in sight xx
Hi Carol. Glad you have your date! I can’t remember if I put it in my blog thread, but I’d also recommend having a light diet in the couple of days pre op, to help your bowel to be as clear as possible - which may assist you post op as everything slows down when you have abdominal surgery and post op constipation is common. Are you due to go in very early in the morning or lunchtime?
I had to be in for 7.30am, so I ordered a taxi for 6.20am as I’m 45 mins to an hour away. The day before, I made sure and had my main meal at lunchtime, and then just had a very light diet in the evening (fruit and toast). That way it meant I had a good poo late in the evening lol and was then clear.
Hi everyone
I had a blood transfusion on Wednesday followed by the op on Thursday last week. All went well and I came home on Saturday. I woke from the op with a raging thirst and a very sore throat. I sipped water continually and sore throat left the following day.
Up and about in the ward the day after the op which was really helpful to feel a bit more normal.
So glad to get home no pain just discomfort all sorted by paracetamol. Getting outside to walk each day and increasing steps slightly day by day.
Back in 3 weeks for histology and treatment plan.
Very well done Carol! Glad to hear from you and happy you’re home. Brilliant that you’re doing short walks and pacing yourself. All the best for your recovery. Amanda
