Hi Had first Carbotaxel cycle on Thurs/ Friday. Bad reaction on first day...lots meds and Dr checks...then second part given. Had bad groin, back and leg pain most of past 2 days...I read about peripheral pain....what helps? Will it pass? 3 more cycles to go.
Thx
Hi Crocus. I think all of us having chemo react in different ways. I myself had no pain, just felt for a couple of days on each cycle that my body was out of kilter with the world, like when you get off a boat but you're till rocking. On those days I went to bed!
I do now suffer with peripheral neuropathy, pins and needles and numbness, as opposed to actual pain. My Oncologist prescribed Gabapentin which has eased the numbness but started to impact on my kidney function so having the reduced the dosage to virtually nil the pins and needles and numbness are worse but do I compromise my kidneys!
On some folks the peripheral neuropathy goes, others will permanently suffer.
Have a look at some of the posts on the Chemotherapy-support-thread. It'll give you an idea of other's reactions.
Hugs, Barb xx

Hi Crocus
Sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction to the first chemo. Hope you are slowly getting better.
I also have groin, abdominal and leg pains post paclitaxel/ carboplatin. The hospital advised to take Paracetamol which together with the steroids keeps the pain under control. They also said that I can take stronger painkillers if necessary. Definitely gets better towards the end of the cycle. For me it started to ease after day 10.
Keep going, we can do this. All the best. Xx
