Good morning ,

I have just been diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial cancer (very scared). I need to decide pre op whether to have lymph nodes removal or lymph node radiotherapy. I am really struggling to make a decision after reading up on some side effect/ late effects of both.Anyone else had to do this? Not expecting anyone to te.je what to do obviously but would appreciate anyones experience in either. Thank you

  • Hi Don't forget it's ok to ask permission to record the conversation with your consultant, then if you need ny clarification at a later date you can take it up with them. Mine's always been ok  with that and it's strange what you do miss when your brain goes into fugg!

    Sending hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Barb,

I was lucky that my eldest son was able to come in with me for all my other appointments but nobody can come in for oncology appointments, I can understand why so it's ok. I've got a really good oncology specialist nurse who will answer any questions I forget to ask. I used to go with my Mum when she was having her chemotherapy & I used to ask all the questions. Covid has changed everything.

I hope you are dong ok Barb.

    Morning Sue,

Hope your first oncology appointment went as well as can be expected x

  • Morning toilet,

My appointment went ok. My son was allowed in with me. There's a backlog for chemotherapy so it'll be 3 weeks before treatment begins. I signed the paperwork & he gave me a blood test form to get done the week before treatment starts. I met my named nurse & was shown the treatment suite. It's so bright in there that I might take sunglasses with me.

    How are you doing?

It feels better when you know a plan doesn't it? Which hospital are you having your chemotherapy if you don't mind me asking? I'm doing OK thanks, day7 post op today, going out for short walks in the morning & done a few lunch dates too. All still outside & away from public as really don't want to catch the dreaded covid now. X

  • You're doing well! I wasn't very mobile 7 days post op. Covid seems to be everywhere. I had Covid in November & felt so ill for several weeks. I definitely want to avoid that now! Having a plan is good.

I'm having my treatment at the Norfolk & Norwich hospital. X

  • Glad yiu got that over with. We're yiu offered the cold cap to.minimise have loss? X

Sue, my problem is more listening to my body & resting up Rofl

  • Hi Maddy, No they didn't mention the cold cap. The Dr just said "you will lose your hair" xx

  • Hi . I don't know what the criteria for offering the cold cap is. I wasn't offered it (at68) but I do recall one of our ladies in her 30' was offered it  - bit ageist I suppose! I started to lose my hair exactly 14 days after the 1st cycle so prepare for the upset. TBH doesn't bother me now, if it wasn't so cold I'd wear my baldness with pride!

Not feeling too clever after last chemo, will be about more tomorrow hopefully.

    Barb xx
