Good morning ,
I have just been diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial cancer (very scared). I need to decide pre op whether to have lymph nodes removal or lymph node radiotherapy. I am really struggling to make a decision after reading up on some side effect/ late effects of both.Anyone else had to do this? Not expecting anyone to te.je what to do obviously but would appreciate anyones experience in either. Thank you
Hi my cancer is grade 3 but I wasn’t asked before surgery what I wanted to do and they left mine in as they are close to a major blood vessel. I am on chemotherapy currently as unfortunately it has gone into two of the pelvic lymph nodes but the chemo is working. Sorry I can’t be much help but hopefully someone else have a bit more experience. X
Hi
I also was given choice whether to have some pelvic lymph nodes removed for sampling along with hysterectomy and was put off by the possible side effects. I called CNS nurse she had a discussion with me over the phone as I understood I would get lymphodema. So she said would ask the surgeon who kooked at my case and medical history, and said because I was fairly healthy with no underlying health problems my risk fir lymphodema or any other complications were pretty low. Based on this I decided to agree to lymph nodes removed as this would also accurately stage the cancer and therefore treatment would be more targeted.
Good morning all,
I have been reading all your comments & impressed by the support people give & receive on this site. An update on myself; I'm due for keyhole surgery tomorrow ti have womb, tubes, ovaries & cervixremoved After a LOT of thinking ( and over thinking too) I gave decided to go with lymph node removal at this stage for accurate staging and more tailored treatment rather than radiotherapy. Have been given such great support from Adenbrooks hospital and am very grateful for this. Hope I've made the right decision. X
