Good morning ,

I have just been diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial cancer (very scared). I need to decide pre op whether to have lymph nodes removal or lymph node radiotherapy. I am really struggling to make a decision after reading up on some side effect/ late effects of both.Anyone else had to do this? Not expecting anyone to te.je what to do obviously but would appreciate anyones experience in either. Thank you

  • Hi you certainly learn something new every day, I didn't know that about the Sentinel Nodes, useful to know.

Have you seen the thread for what to take in your overnight bag? if not I can resend.

    Hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Sarah16

I asked my consultant why only six nodes removed? The reply I got was to minimise risk of lymphoedema and that they take the six nearest to tumour as this is first place the cells invade.

  • Thanks Barb - I have kept a copy of your packing list which is very useful xx

  • Thank you Mad.  That's really helpful to know.

Thank you Robin home today. Not feeling too bad at all. Follow up in 2 weeks with MDT. Consultant pleased with surgery, no obvious surprises.

    Thanks for asking x

  • Glad you’re home! It’s a relief isn’t it even after just a short stay away! I’m not going to tell you what to do, as I hate that myself lol, but all I’ll suggest is that you listen to your body - and that may equally be to do something as to not do something. For example I went for a 5 minute walk the afternoon I came home from hospital as I felt like I wanted to. So I went for a gentle stroll and it was fine and also good for me, especially after having been cooped up for a day and a half! Hope you sleep well tonight,

Thank you Marmite , some good advice as I don't tend to rest up much & like to keep active, time to listen to my body.Thumbsup

  • Hi again, I too am an active person so I understand. This is why my 5 min walk twice a day was especially important. You will work out what’s right for you - but some rest is important to aid healing and also to help prevent a prolapse later. I took regular sit downs during the day, but even when I did I made sure to twiddle my feet and move my legs every single often, and also got up and walked around every half hour or so. I didn’t stay in bed at all in the day, but I did decide to flop every evening and not have visitors just watch TV or play board games. You will work out what’s right for you I’m sure.

  • Hi Toilet Iam so pleased it went well and you are home safe and sound. Its going to be lovely weather until Monday which will help with your convalescence I'm sure.

    Take care

    Robin xx
