On 3/05/21 and was diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma. It was also preliminarily graded FIGO Grade 2.
That same day, they took blood for a blood work up.
I had a CAT scan done 3/10/21 to look at my lymph nodes and on 3/17/21 the results from the CAT scan showed lymph nodes were not swollen and my blood work came back good.
I was given a date for surgery, Mar 26, 2021 in Eugene, Oregon for a robotic assisted total laparoscopic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and right pelvic lymph node dissection. This means I had 6 small incisions in my abdomen instead of being cut vertically from my belly button down. I met with the oncologist/surgeon the day before, Mar 25, and then surgery early the next morning.
Meeting with Dr. Yang on Mar 25 went well. She explained the procedure to me, answered all my questions and made me feel as comfortable as one can feel under the circumstances.
On Mar 26, I was wheeled into surgery, I was kept overnight and released the next day. There was never any post-operative pain and I never had to take any pain pills. Just mostly a bit sore and uncomfortable.
I received the pathology report and had a video meeting with Dr. Yang on 4/15 to discuss results:
• Stage 1A cancer. This means it stayed localized and didn’t spread to any other tissue.
• FIGO Grade 1 instead of 2. This is good.
• No chemo or radiation.
• No cancer found in lymph nodes.
• I will need to follow up with doctor for five years to make sure the cancer doesn’t pop up somewhere else and will be on a hormone blocker for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Hi  and a warm welcome to our little corner of the Online Community. Here you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you are now. Any cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will. We're all at the start, in the middle or the end of what can only be described as a roller-coaster ride. The ride no-one wants to get on.

It wasn't until I'd read further down your post I realised you're from America - the date formats confused me!! To us Brits you were diagnosed on 3rd May!! (Not 5th March)

Great to hear your op all went well and histology revealed  your were stage 1A and grade 1, no further treatment needed except follow-ups. Some ladies have found it difficult to accept they had and beat cancer so there's quite a useful forum here Life after cancer you might like to take a look at.

If you ever want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. It's free to call on 0808 808 00 00  8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look to see what is available by Clicking here .

There is also an Ask an Expert section, but you should allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
