After 2 years of being on oral provera for womb cancer, I was told I needed the Mirena coil as the oral provera wasn’t doing enough  (as want to start ivf). Since having coil fitted in Dec, I’ve had spotting every 2 days which is fine but also stomach cramping every 2 days having to take ibroprofen. Has anyone else had this with coil? Thanks,

  • Hi yes how old are you I was 30 wen diagnosed? I had the coil fitted to slow my cancer down y I waited for hysterectomy i already had two kids so this was the best option for me. The coil was a nightmare still spotting a lot and the cramps were unreal like pms but times ten I think it takes months for your body to be used the coil hope this helps xxx

  • Hi Littlemissscared,

When I was in my 30's, after trouble coming off the pill, 2 miscarriages and one child, I needed reliable contraception and considered a coil. Even in those days they talked of cramps and I decided against it. You have my sympathy. xxx

  • I am 35 now. I’m glad it’s normal as I was wondering. Thank you for replying x
