Hi everyone
I'm new to this particular group but not new to the whole forum as I had anal cancer 6 years ago which was HPV relatedI,thankfully it was a good outcome.
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with VIN 3 and had surgery to remove the area, less than a month later it had come back again but worse I am now waiting for the date of the next surgery where my Gynaecologist can as she said’have a good route round’. I am aware it is recurrent, but it came back almost instantly,is this a sign that it’s strong and persistent and going to change into Vulva Cancer.
Advice please
Lisa
Hi LisaJP. I'm sorry that you now find yourself here having had Anal Cancer 6 years ago.
I myself have a different type of cancer so I can't offer any insight. It might be an idea to take a look at the link I've created to the Macmillan website for information regarding VIN but as you've been on the forum for some time you might have already seen it.
I've flagged your post to the attention of Champ of this group. chellesimo and she'll be along at some point to answer.
Big hugs, B xx

Hi LisaJP you are not in the wrong place, that is an information sheet that MrsBJHhas put up for you. Welcome to the group, but so sorry to hear about your diagnoses.
I am sorry to hear that you have had a reoccurrence so soon after surgery. It can happen like this unfortunately, but it does not mean it will progress into cancer. It sounds like the gynaecologist is going to be very thorough this time.
Waiting for the surgery date is very stressful. I hope you get a date very soon. This group does tend to be a little slow at times, but I am sure others will be along to chat with you as well.
Take care.xx
Hi Lisa
I was in the same position as you in 2016. I was scared when the VIN3 returned after surgery.
my gynaecologist booked me in for surgery and touch wood, it’s not come back. Your gynaecologist sounds like she knows what’s she’s doing so good luck. You’re not alone x
Thankyou Maya, yes it’s a little stressful but I have every faith in my Gynaecologist..
take care
xx
thank you for your reply,it’s always nice to hear something positive ...and yes my gynaecologist is great..
take care

From what research I did on VIN3, there’s more chance it will clear up than develop into anything nasty. The odds are in our favour.
I will say that I try and look after myself more than I used to, to minimise the chances of VIN3 returning. I use an emollient in the shower for my groin area and a mild shower gel. I try and eat healthily too, with a sweet tooth this is sometimes difficult. The hardest thing was cutting out alcohol! I do enjoy the odd drink still but try to be moderate.
Wishing you all the best xx
Hi LisaJP,
I’m sorry that you find yourself here, although I’m glad you’ve reached out for support and advice.
It looks as though you have had some helpful replies already. I just wanted to add that having had VIN 3 myself it is something I researched heavily and my research suggests that it takes a long time to develop into cancer and that for many women it never becomes cancer. It sounds as though you have a great gynaecologist, who will keep a close eye on you.
If there is anything I may be able to help with then please feel free to ask.
Take care,
Vulval cancer warrior xx
