Hey there. I'm 50 years old. WAs diagnosed 2 years ago and have had two surgeries. I live in Atlanta, GA. This is my third recurrence of VIN3/Squamous Cell Carcinoma. It came back about 4 months after the surgery--which seems sort of fast?? I have never tested positive for HPV 16 or 18. But, my doctor tells me he's sure I have HPV?
I recently was sharing my story with a dermatologist and she offered to take a look. She wanted to treat my latest recurrence (about a 1cm lesion) with MOHS and imiquimod cream. Have any of you tried that? Do you think it will be better than the wide local? My gyno oncologist doesn't think imiquimod cream is all that effective for high grade vin?
Is there anything that works besides the surgery?
Does anyone know who in the US is the expert of Vulvar Cancer? I'm willing to go see her/him?
I don't know a single person who has this that I can talk to about (not online).
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hi
I am 75 and live in UK. I had a similar conversation with my gynacologist on Friday. Had first excision i July , but now have another patch and had the biopsy on Friday. He said the cream or laser treatment works on VIn 1 and 2 but not on 3. So personally I am waiting the result and if VIN3 will have to have the op again. Good luck let us know how you get on

Mar stew, i’m so sorry you have to deal with this again that is the beast of VIN! I am from the United States to and live in the upper Peninsula of Michigan I travel to mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota. I also heard there was a really good doctor or hospital in Chicago. There is Also a Vulvar clinic in lower Michigan near Ann Arbor I believe but not at the University of Michigan just nearby.
I agree with penloc That my doctors also said the cream only works with low-grade been one and possibly two. My doctor at Mayo would only consider laser for vin one or two. I’m not sure what MOHS is. I sent you a friend request.
take care, Elmslav
