Can anyone give me advice ? I was called two days ago by consultant confirming to me My biopsy’s  have shown I have VIN stage 3 it was a short conversation on the telephone and she said I will be booked to see a surgeon /consultant who will have a look at me and possible do map biopsy’s on me and discuss surgery etc.

does anyone have experience of any surgery on VIN and recovery times etc.

i feel ok I don’t want to scare myself by looking at google etc I would love anyone to pls give me some information on this or anyone’s personal experience of surgery.

Its the last thing I want but she said the creams can burn and can take up to 6 months to show any difference. I mentioned laser which they don’t do at my hospital it’s only in a hospital 50 miles from me but I imagine long waiting list.

its embarrassing to discuss with people I’ve only discussed with my partner .

im 41 I have a 10 year old daughter I just want to be fit and active after it.

  • Hi Don7731,

I am sorry that you have VIN3, did you have any symptoms? I have been having VIN for a few years at least and had surgeries(excision, laser) five times so far and still keep coming back. Personally, I would rather excision because laser will not work well, it keeps coming back.

I also tried the cream for full 4 months and had check up last week. Unfortunately all VIN did not go away, still some left and a doctor saw two areas could be VIN3. I will go back to see a doctor in two month how they look like. I did not want to have another surgery, so I just gave it try if it works for me. I did not have any bad reaction except minor irritation.

I usually go back to work in a couple of days post surgery. It depends how you feel, some people need a couple of weeks or more, some are less like me. Surgery is done in 15-20 minis so it will not take long. I am 46 yrs and live in USA.

I hope everything will be going wellTwo hearts

Thanks for your Reply x I’m sorry to hear your going through all this too and it worries me as I keep seeing posts saying it keeps coming back I wonder why this happens as you would think surgery would just work wouldn’t you ?

i have read up about different procedures and like you say laser not overall successful.

my symptoms started with skin changes one side and small cuts they went I wasn’t sure what it was then appeared again.

i had a smear test feb 2019 which came back normal the consultant says no sign of HPV maybe immune system related.

i has never heard of this ever in my life but seeing all these forums makes me realise I’m not alone .

sorry to hear your having problems still.

I’m worrying myself over how much they will remove I suppose it’s fear of the unknown

good luck and I will keep you updated and please let me know how your getting on Grinning

    Hi Don 7731,

Have you had your surgery yet?  How are you doing.....pre or post op?

Please try not to worry if you have not had the surgery yet.  It is either a simple or an extensive surgery depending  on your diagnosis.  Mine was somewhere in the middle.  I was outpatient and amazingly awakened with No pain.  As a matter of fact I began to have occasional mild throbbing aches at the surgical site only after 7 days.   I went home as soon as I was fully awake.   The staff gave me a Rose as I was wheeled out to my ride.

Several days post op I read the surgical report.   When the surgery was complete the surgeon "infiltrated the entire vulvar area with [local anesthetic]".  I have forgotten the name of the anesthetic.  I was very comfortable.

I guess the purpose of my reply, to whomever is reading this, is I want you to know that medical care has made great strides in quick, efficient, safe, technically advanced surgeries today.  I'm a Registered Nurse in the US and I was amazed at how well the surgery went.

I had a 3 month follow-up last week and the area appears clear.  But I know in my heart the VIN3 will come back.  So I will continue my every 3 month check-ups and know that anything can happen and we will deal with it accordingly.

Sending you peace and good energy.  ~Cate

    Hi Emma

just seen your post and I’m going through the same thing.

Just waiting for my appointment for surgery in the next 4 to 6 weeks mine too is just on one side.

not sure why your friend is saying this to you but don’t scare yourself too much as I seen a consultant on Thus who’s the surgeon who will be doing my operation he said VIN is pre cancer not cancerous and if you have obviously had your biopsy Results back telling you that you  have VIN stage 3 like myself but if it was cancer they would tell you that in results .

I’m not old either like you I’m 41 I have a little girl I know it’s scary I’ve tried not to google too much as you can’t make it worse in your mind but your getting it sorted so that’s the main thing.

mine has been so uncomfortable this last week just flared up out of nowhere tbh I don’t want surgery but I know I have to the consultant told me there is a 40 per chance that it can come back but he seemed positive with it being contained in one area that it should be okay .

i don’t smoke but he said he sees this is mostly people who smokes so I have no idea why I have got it but I suppose we all feel this way x

I feel how you feel I’m scared but I’m positive and just keep positive thoughts and have faith and trust in the doctors and don’t read too much information as lot of negative comments on some forums that will worry you more xx

I’ve been told I have to have a 2 inch area removed which I will need 18 to 20 stitches in so I know what to expect .

write some questions and take them to your next appointment to help get it all clear in your mind it was a shock to me too I have it in same  area as you too by sounds of it x please keep in touch with me and let me know how your getting on and I will keep you updated .

the operation is a 30 min op your let home the same day ask ask many questions if your feeling upset even call your own gp they can help ease your mind too.

    wishing you lots of luck

Thanks for making me feel bit more positive can I ask how long it too you to recover ? X

sending love and strength your way x

Hi Emma  no worries I hope your ok and keep positive I’m sure it will all be ok and my consultant never mentioned anything to me about further treatment after op or mention testing the skin they remove so that’s something I will be asking.

yes I’m in England are you ? And yes noticed lots in USA have posted I had never heard of this ever on my life VIN had you ? But sounds like it quite common.

will let you know how I get on and good luck keep in touch x
