Hi
what seems to be standard procedure for checking for VIN? Is there a test other than a biopsy? Ive has SCC of the vulva back in dec 17. It was on a background of VIN3.
Ive had an itch in the same spot for the last 6 months but the Drs just keep saying the skin looks normal and therefore won’t do anything until another ulcer/sore appears.
Is that the norm?
I was diagnosed with stage 2 Vulva Cancer in 2013,in October last year I developed itching and red inflamed looking skin changes and rang the specialist nurse who booked me in earlier than I was due for my check up appt.I had my appt with the Oncology Surgeon in November,he thought it looked like VIN which I also suspected due to my history and set the wheels in motion for biopsy which I had early December. It came back as VIN 2 with fortunately clear margins and I will now see him every six months.
You don’t mention which doctors,ha ha see what I did there? you have seen, are they the same team from the Oncology dept or your GP? I would be tempted to push to have a biopsy if it were me.
Thanks Lilla
both my oncology team and I’ve just been for a second opinion to another oncology dr. They both say they won’t do biopsy’s as the skin looks fine.
I’m in Ireland and the health service are way behind compared to other countries but I could be worrying over nothing.
Hopefully this is one of those times when an itch is exactly that. It’s surprising how treatment etc can vary across the UK.
