Hi I’m interested in hearing from someone who had a 3cm tumour and your course of action. I know everyone is different re treatment but I would like some idea of your treatment plan/recovery.

  • Hi

I noticed you hadn’t had a reply yet, and although I can’t answer your question about tumour size, this cancer is dealt with by surgery, or chemoradiation. It will depend on different factors which combination is used or if surgery will be enough on its own. Both treatment and recovery will depend on whether you have surgery or chemoradiation, so it will be hard to second guess until you get a treatment plan. Hopefully once you know your plan, others will be able to share their experiences.

  • Hi Eileen,

I have no info to give unfortunately , as Im in a similar position waiting for a tumour to be removed next Tuesday with removal of clitoris and a chunk from the left side. Hopinf to get enoiugh margin and keep the urethera unharmed.  after that waiting to find out if radiation therapy is needed (hope not). I hope you get a treatment plan soon and recover well from whatever you decide. I am finding the waiting really hard and also the knowledge that a teamof peolpe are deciding the treatment without me being there! I completely appreciate why and it's obviously the right way to go about it but it still goes against the grain! Take care and my best wishes Rachel

  • Hi Rachel well I got speaking to specialist nurse this morning. No surgery as tumour is too large and surgery would be extensive. Radiotherapy will be the starting point for 4/5 weeks Monday to FridPray . The nodes in groin are enlarged but not sure if this is just due to tumour so a pet scan has been requested today. Should be seeing consultant next Wednesday or the following week. According to wPrayt the pet scan shows I might need bracka therapy. I’m encouraged that things are moving so I will be leaving all in God’s hands Pray

  • Hi

Just wanted to wish you all the best for your surgery next week-all the waiting is hard. I hope the surgery will be enough without the need for radiation afterwards-fingers crossed. Hope you can let us know how you get on and that your recovery goes well.

  • thanks Sara I will . really appreciate your comment. it's quite a lonely disease .

  • Hi

Yes, I completely get what you’re saying about it being a lonely disease…there is so little spoken about it, and the same with vaginal cancer. Even cervical cancer, although it’s a bit more known about, is still a lonely place to be, especially if it’s more advanced and not dealt with by a hysterectomy. All cancers in that particular area of our body are difficult for us I think. Hopefully the surgery will be sufficient for you.

  • Hi

I’m sorry to see that surgery wasn’t an option for you and you’ll need radiotherapy. It’s quite an intense course over a relatively short time but you get through it. The petscan will give more information so it’s best that this is done to make sure nothing else is an issue. I wasn’t able to have the brachytherapy myself, but maybe it won’t be required for you in the end.

Hope it doesn't take too long for the petscan to be done and get the results so you can move forward.

  • Hi Sarah,

I just read your bio and it sounds like you have really been through the mill. Thank you for your kind words. It is very reassuring to hear others experience and understanding . I hope surgery will do it for me but am now a little more resIgned to what needs to be. It would be great if the pain would stop for a while as it did briefly after they removed some of the tiumor in the biopsy. I am trying very hard to ccome to terms with this new person I need to be and think it will just take time to sink in and be accepted. I do hope your health is on an even keel again and so appreciate your message. Take care Rachel xxx
