hi i have been diagnosed with stage 3 vulva cancer i am due to have chemoradiation soon. i am quite worried about what to expect has anyone else gone through this kind of treatment.
Hi Tashy2 sorry I do not have any personal experience of this. Hopefully someone will be along soon to share their story with you, but in the meantime have you tried putting chemoradiation into the search bar at the top of the page to see any past posts about this.
All the best
Hi I was diagnosed with vulvar cancer in 2019 I had a vulectomy to remove the tumor and 17 groin lymph nodes with one having incapsulated cancer cells. I had right pelvic radiation 25 treatments I did not have chemoradiation at that time because my surgeon had gotten great margins and felt it was not needed. In 2020 the month of May I felt something that felt familiar as before and it kept getting larger but my oncologist felt that it was scar tissue but I did not. I had biopsies and scans they were all inconclusive I was still not convinced so my oncologist said I could wait or he would remove the mass to make me feel more at ease. I had surgery in october of 2020 and it was cancer recurrence as I thought it had attached to my colon so my oncologist removed all that he could and my flap took around 6 weeks to heal and I was not allowed to sit for that period so I could lay or stand and that was harder than it sounds. I was scheduled for chemoradiation which took around 7 weeks. the chemo was not so bad but i found the radiation toward the end was rough because it burned my skin and it was painful. I used lidocaine and that helped to numb the area. It was hard but you can get through it because you are strong and we have to be vigilant with this type of cancer and all other types its just vulvar cancer I feel has not been researched enough because its considered to be rare. I had my pet scan and it shows NED at this time. I had a genetic test that shows what chemo would work for my type of cancer if it would return but I pray it does not and I wish you and others the best with whatever treatment is offered and all we have is a wing and prayer and hopes that one day they will cure cancer so that no one will have to go through this ever. I wish you the best. I am 58 years young and I am back to work and I hope to do so for many years to come. Please keep in touch and if you need to talk we are all here to help.
