Worried about Lump!

Hey guys,

I have a big lump inside my vagina, I'm having a lot of back and womb pain. My left leg is also swollen. The lump itself is rock hard at the bottom and covered by what feels like a water balloon. I've had a Bartolin's cyst before but this feels nothing like it! I've just gone through the menopause and I haven't had any bleeding, just awful bloating, running to the loo and th awful pain! I've  realised I've had this lump for years, I never paid it much notice as I thought it was part off my anatomy it was so hard! I had been having pain after sex and feeling sick but I ve so many other ailments it didn't register (I had a 3cm benign lump removed from my thyroid in Nov). I've booked with my gp for next week but I'm really worried...hoping it will be a cyst or maybe prolapse. Apologies for asking but what did everyone's lump feel like? This feels weird, there's at least 2cm thickness of rock hardness running the whole length of my vaginal wall, then the whole thing is enclosed in a massive watery balloon.

  • Oh, at last your mri is scheduled-thank goodness for that. I hope that will give you some answers after all this time.

I had awful pain and nausea last year when I ended up in A&E and it was a gallstone attack, which was very unpleasant. They tried an ERCP procedure with a tube down my throat which failed and gave me pancreatitis-one thing after another! I’m glad my gallbladder is gone now.

I have a hospital appointment on Monday for yet another different issue, but looking forward to going on holiday the following week. I’m tired of it all, so can understand your frustrations.

  • Jeez it's never ending, hope the problem can be sorted easily! Yeah frequent appointments suck, it's so tiring even just explaining what's wrong never mind the plava off actually getting there. My wife's work have been so understanding and given her an extra day working from home, so she can take me to things but it almost still isn't enough. Sod's law you go to get one thing fixed and end up with another. I got my gall bladder out as an emergency, it was affecting my liver, bloody sore it was, unfortunately this feels similar. I've been trying to hold  on for my dr's appointment, finger's crossed something will be done! Not long and you'll be soaking up some rays!! Where are you going?! We're hoping for a weekend in Bratislava, wife fancies seeing it, I just go with the flow lol!! x

  • Hi

I know-it seems endless! Different hospital today, but efficient. I need surgery, but because my stroke was only a couple of months ago and I’m on blood thinning pills I need to wait. So it will likely be 4-6 months. But it’s not urgent so I’ll just have to sit it out.

So, we’ll get off to Lanzarote next week and not think about it! My daughter and son in law went to Bratislava last year, but not been there myself. Get yourselves sorted for a weekend away if you can-you could do with having something nice to look forward to!

  • Jeez another Op, it seems once they start they're never ending! Well at least you'll get some Sun in between! Good appointment today, saw a different Dr and she was very good. Thinks I might have a gallstone stuck in a duct, I've to get bloods tomorrow and an Ultrasound at some stage I think. She said there's different tests that can be done to see what it is, so I'm really reassured she'll get to the bottom off it! She totally dismissed the Costocondritis diagnosis that I've been given for it over the past two years!! Chest x-ray fine and womb biopsy, although it did mention proliferative endometrium which I think is fine at this stage but may be a problem if still there later! Mri next tues so all going the right direction at long last! x

  • Once these doctors get hold of you they never leave you alone! If you do have a gallstone in your bile duct it can make you very ill very quickly so watch for that. I got an infection with it that they said in hospital was life threatening so got pumped with huge amounts of antibiotics to start with. The best way to check this is a procedure called an ERCP-basically a tube and camera down the throat to see everything.

Really glad to see this doctor seems to be proactive and hopefully will get to the bottom of things, and the upcoming mri may shed some more information. It’s about time! You are sounding more positive that things will get done.

  • Yes I think this doctor will actually listen and try to find out what's going on! Praying that something shows in the bloods and mri to tell me why I feel so ill! Was disappointed that Chest X-ray didn't pick anything up,something is definitely wrong with the left side. I'm just punctured and having mad sweating bouts! xx

  • Mad sweating bouts won’t be helping you along with everything else! My goodness what a lot you deal with every day-my moaning seems trivial in comparison! I’m going to focus on getting away next week and completely relaxing-I may even indulge in a couple of cocktails which are not typically part of my new “let’s be healthy” kick….Joy

  • Hee hee I think cocktails should be mandatory in being healthy!! I hope this finds you off on holiday or getting ready to do so!! Had my mri yesterday and feel a bit weepy. It's seems like this is it, my last hope at finding prey what's going on. If it comes back clear, which is great but means I've no answer, I just don't know how I will feel. My wife is freaking as I was in for ages but I think maybe that's standard. They did take extra shots so I don't know what that means! Here's to over thinking until I get the results! Anyhow enjoy and have a few for me!!! x

  • A pelvic mri does take much longer than something like a CT scan. Typically I’ve been in for the best part of an hour every time. The only quicker mri I’ve ever had was of my brain! I hope it gives answers whatever they might be, but don’t be surprised if you also get a CT scan, and the scans all give different types of images and sometimes both types are needed for a full picture. Hope it’s not too long for the results.

Yes, I’m in the sunshine but not cocktails so far!

  • Yay sunshine Sun with face there will be plenty of time for them I'm sure! Were your results quick then as they knew there was already something there? The woman said could be 2wks for the results and the last letter said gynae would see me probably within 3mths off the mri.. I'm guessing if there's something urgent it would quicker?! Anyhow I've gotta let it go!! Currently chomping on an ice pop and wishing it was chocolate lol! Get off this thing and enjoy, lady!! xx
