Hi I am due to have surgery soon but at the stage of ultrasound then surgical team talk. I have always wanted to have mastectomy  with my own tissue reconstruction and no radiotherapy. Nurse today said what about implant. I dont know much about that. I am a 36E bust and 67 yes old. Can anyone help me. If you've had either operation . Would like to find out pros and cons for both. I don't  want a lumpectomy at all. Thank you so much xx

  • Hi BobbysGirl

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  While I haven't had a mastectomy I thought that I'd get in touch with you as you haven't had any answers yet.  I've notice that you are also a member of the Breast Cancer forum.  I suggest that you also put your question in that forum as you are more likely to get a answer quicker as it's a busier forum than this one.

Wishing you the best of luck with your operation whatever you decide to do.

    Best wishes

  • I have had a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with implants.  I didn't have enough body tissue. I am very pleased with the result.  I am BRACA 2.  I am now having chemo because of the Triple negative.  I am a 32 E and aged 70 years. I hope that helps.
