Has anyone ever had a strange side effect to this drug? I am constantly itching, I don't mean a gentle scratch this is a deep down rip your skin off type of itch.
My gp just gives me antihistamines which make me sleepy, and don't work!!! My oncologist said come off them for a couple of weeks and then start taking them again when the itching stops!! But it's driving me mad, I've got so many bruises and red marks where i have to scratch so hard.
I have another 6 months to go with this drug, but at the moment I'm not using any because I just can't cope. It's so embarrassing when I go out.
Is it just me??
Hi Milocat . Sorry to hear you are in some discomfort with your treatment. It sounds really uncomfortable. I am not from this group and no experience of this drug but I noticed your post was slipping through without a reply. I notice you have also posted in another group but no one with experience has come forward yet. By giving your post a bump, it will bring it back to the fore and maybe catch the attention of someone with knowledge of this. You could also trying a post in the Ask a Nurse section where you may get some professional advice. Best wishes.
Hi,hello
Thank you for your message, it is strange that nobody has made a comment. So perhaps it is just me having a strange reaction to it!!
I'm seeing my oncologist in 2 weeks so I'll mention it again, although as i said I'm not taking them at the moment because I really can't cope with the itching, it honestly feels like there's something crawling under my skin!
Thank you again and take care
Hi Milocat
I am on this medication for my bones and started this after I finished chemo and radiotheraphy treatment, I have never had any issues with this and I have been on this for about 3 years. I take is once a week with plain water and you have to stand or sit up staight to take it, you cannot lie down when taken, as it causes issues. Are you taking this for Osteoperoisis, the same as me. This what this drug is for, never heard it used as a cancer treatment.
