Hello I'm 57 recent triple neg diagnosis, lumpectomy & removal of 2/3 lymph nodes (precaution) booked for 2 Dec. probable chemo & radio to follow, which I am dreading more than the op. I have breast implants & wondered if anyone else in my shoes?
Hi Wobbly1, glad you appointment went will, from your previous posts you have very similar outcome as myself, I got the results on Weds now waiting for a date to see the oncologist to plan chemo and radiotherapy. Do you know when you are starting your treatment? Will ask about the SNLB as I had the same. Have also been thinking about trying the cold cap, but will have to see how it goes. Wishing you all the best xx
Hi Tanybg glad your results were good, it’s such a relief isn’t it? I have heard today that I’ll be going in on the 1st for an initial chat and look round the unit and start chemo on the 6th December. Hoping 12 weeks after that I’ll be done with the hard bit! After a four week break I’ll be having 5 days intensive radiotherapy during course of a week. It’s been about 10 weeks after lumpectomy to start of chemo that’s because they need to give everything time to heal after lumpectomy. Hope that gives you an idea of timescales etc. Best wishes x
Hi Wobbly1, yes since getting the results feel a weight has been lifted can now feel half human again and start preparing for the next steps. Thnks for the info on your timeline. I presume mine might be similar. Have not got a date for the oncologist yet, hopefully will get one next week. Hope all goes well on the 6th.
Will be thinking of you. Best wishes xx
Hello So good to hear back from you & that your results are so reassuring. So thankful to live in a country with such a responsive screening pathway. Unfortunately we're learning about a subject we'd all sooner keep at arms length! Yes I feel positive about the surgery. I think of it as a gremlin that must be removed. Like you will be glad to go back 2 weeks later for the results to confirm it hasn't spread into nodes and beyond. I'm having the nuclear blue dye the day before and my husband has promised to buy me a white hat if I look like a smurf! Humour is powering us through... I'm keeping busy, not long to go now, first hoop to dive through.
I've never been ready so early for xmas, presents bought & wrapped, have left writing cards to give me something to do.
It sure makes me appreciate the little things.
Take care and a big hug back at you x
Hi Rose, hope all went well today, my husband must have the same sense of humour as yours he made almost the same comment . You are very good getting sorted for Xmas! Must start doing the same this week. I still the blue blob even after 2 weeks but it is fading now. Did some driving over the weekend as well, not too bad, nice to do something normal again.
Take care and best wishes for the 2nd xxx
Thank you. Have you got your oncology appointment yet? I’m back today at the hospital again for more pre chemo checks, it’s been a busy week! Any queries I can help with let me know x
Hope all is well with you Rose after your op?
Best wishes to you both xx
Hi, yes got letter yesterday it is on the 13th Jan. So very similar timeline to you. Have been advised to have Bisphosphonates? Have been reading about it helping with problems with bones.
Hope you have a lovely weekend all ready for Monday.
Sending big hug! xx
Hello How nice of you to message. I feel so lucky my operation went ahead on 2nd, not only was I 1st to theatre, I was the only one on the list that day, everyone else had their dates shunted forward. No idea why? But it happens. I would have been devastated as I was so focused on that date. Was home in the afternoon. Mu lump was at the top of my left breast, so bit of an indentation left, 4 inch cut above nipple. 4 nodes taken (nurse said on follow up call next day that my be due to anatomy rather than 1st two showing signs of cancer. Face to face follow up has been replaced by phone call due to Covid-19 on 14th. I am taking it step by step. Hubbie is very much a glass half full person, so theres no wringing of hands.
Had a 5 min walk yesterday & today but feeling washed out knocks me out for a few hours each afternoon. Quite nauseous, wether thats the effort or anaesthesia I’m not sure.
But watching the eye candy of Steve Bacgshall in Deadly 60 natural history programs or Bethany Hughes across Europe is a happy escape!
I’m finding a little soft travel pillow really helpful for the discomfort of putting my arm by my side. I now understand why the compression garment does not have shoulder straps. I’ve worn compression bras after my boob enhancement & still sleep in a light sports bra to stop any rolling of the implants.
its good to have xmas to look forward to. Enjoy getting out & about. I’m not far behind you!
Big hugs xx
Hi Rose, hope you are feeling better today and not so nauseous. I have using a small pillow as well was given one by a friend and also was given one after op by a local support group, has been helping. Now just over 3 weeks since op and all the bruising has gone. Still a bit tender and hard around the scar but spoke to nurse and said it will take a while for that to go away. Started back at work today(work from home).
Enjoy your daytime telly .
Yes starting to look forward to Christmas now, and prepare for new year.
Sending big hug xxx
