Hi,
Diagnosed tnbc Dec 2020. Had 3 cycles EC and started 12 weekly doses of carbotaxel on Thursday. Then surgery, then radiotherapy!
I felt pretty rough after the last EC and was hoping that the next cycles would be more gentle.
For a couple of days after treatment I felt OK but now, 4 days later I have stomach cramps, indigestion, headache, nausea, fatigue, the lot! I have taken lansoprazole, metaclopromode, paracetamol and plenty of fluids and feel no better.
Any advice will be greatfully received
Xx
Hi. I had a similar regimen, except mine was 4EC, then 12taxol. My side effects on EC were very similar. In the days immediately following treatment, I was OK, then on days 4/5 to 7/8, it hit me pretty hard... Everything you describe, except the nausea and a few extra. It was tough, and the third cycle was the toughest for me.. Trying to rest was pointless cos I just lay there thinking about how bad I felt and I couldn't concentrate on a book or a TV show, and trying to be in any way active made me faint! Lots of angry, frustrated tears (I have always been a terrible patient!!). The only things I found in any way helpful were ice packs draped around me head and on my tummy, and meditation tracks (there are some decent podcasts on Google podcasts that are free, and YouTube had some nice 'sound of nature' ones). I had never mediated in my life before this and I probably wasn't meditating at all, as I had no clue what I was doing, but it was the one thing I could focus on and it distracted me from the misery for a bit. The most important thing I can tell you though, is that the misery passed and by day 9or 10, I felt like myself again and had an amazing week and a half of feeling good, which I took full advantage of. I hope you'll feel better soon xxx
Hi Roses 21
i hope you are feeling better. I had the same symptoms as you and found that Gaviscon helped with the tummy , ondansteron and emend are good antiemetics, co-codamol for severe headaches. Sucking on ice cubes also helps a lot as well as chilled pineapple juice.
Thank you for your reply TNBC50. I have now got 3 antiemetics (metoclopromide, ondansatron and onlanzipine), various laxatives, lansoprazole to help with my stomach and goodness knows what else! The consultant said she wanted me to be as comfortable as possible for the last 9 weeks of chemo!
I hope you are OK? Xx
