Hi everyone just wondering g if anyone has an tips for good travel insurance post thyroid surgery.  I went on line and I even frightened myself when I declared all my health issuesJoy  not been away for 2 years but as I’m feeling positive and brave I would love to get away with my family.  Just need an understanding travel insurer! All tipsgratwfully received

  • Hey!

I feel you I also got shocked and said HOW MUCH? especially for the fact its minimally invasive and all done :( unfortunately I think the least amount of time you are cancer free for (if that's in your case) the more expensive it is, cancer research seems to say it should then gradually get lower.

I tried staysure but because there was a trial (even though not drug related) I was part of they could not cover me so in the end I went with AllClear, lovely customer service helping me understand after I did the online form!

It was more expensive but I ended up going with annual multi trip as that was cheaper than single for me XD I'll just have to go on lots of holidays!

    Where are you off to?

  • Thanks for your great reply.  I’m not finding it easy to say the least!  I’ve had multiple  issues over past 2 years but thankfully all undef control and aside from ongoing monurturing,  I don’t need any more treatment (hope that’s not famous last words!).  My son is Running in  he  Berlin marathon in September so I’m desperate to go and support him.  He’s raising money for it so would be great to just be there.  Then we have a whole family trip planned  in December.  Have been rolling that on for padt   2 years whilst I’ve been undergoing ops etc! . So excited I can’t tell you although I’m a bit scared at the thought if I’m honest.

ill follow your tips and see what I can get and just accept it will cost.  I just want the cover as you just never know .  Thanks again

  • Oh I understand waiting so long for a good holiday abroad! Mine is upcoming in September, I paid more for a flex ticket but thankfully it's looking fine.

My friend did say there were promo codes in the newspaper for insurance companies so I'd keep an eye out and ask for different quotes before you decide :)

Also I believe Macmillan has a travel section or advisors that could assist but I never got round to ringing them!

  • The funny thing is out of all the issues the thyroid cancer condition is not gonna cause me any issues yet it's probably the one that hikes up the price XD!

  • I wonder why that is I’ll let you know how I get on

  • Have an amazing holiday and enjoy every second.  I’ll follow all your tips thanks so much and before long I’ll be on that plane…..

  • Try Insurancewith.com, they are very reasonable, lots of people on this forum have recommended them.
