Hi all!
im a 23 year old mum of 2 boys. My GP has referred me for an urgent scan on my thyroid and throat, due to the severe pain I am experiencing. Is it normal to be so nervous?
symptoms are:
swollen right lobe of thyroid
severe pain when swallowing, talking, breathing
increased amount of saliva
Followed by the normal symptoms of graves & hyperthyroidism
I have a blood test on the 20th Feb & my scan on the 26th Feb.
Hi Kaybov2000 and a warm welcome to the community but also sorry to hear you find yourself here due to your symptoms and referral. There are many friendly, knowledgeable people on here who I'm sure will pop on when they can aswell.
Of course it's normal to feel nervous. I was downright scared when I went for my first scan! Try to take someone with you if possible, not just for support but they can be a distraction whilst you're in that tense situation. It can also be a nerve wracking waiting game afterwards whilst they gather the info from the tests. But until they've done that, you have hope. So try to stay positive (easier said than done I know) and do let us know how you get on. I wish you all the best x
