I'm currently under investigation for what they think could be CLL, although I did see another ENT consultant yesterday of the same team who seems to be heading off towards Thyroid. I have enlarged lymph nodes in the neck (dont show) and also some enlarged Lymph Nodes in the Porta Hepatis region (apparently close to the liver) the ones near the liver are giving me a bit of discomfort and a nauseas feeling from time to time.

I must be honest, I am finding the whole thing very difficult to deal with and keeping myself functioning on a daily basis is challenging. Like a fool I googled 24/7 looking for hope, it's really sent me to a dark place.

I have had 2 CT scans and a neck ultrasound with needle biopsy  which was inconclusive. On the 18th December I have an MRI booked and possibly another ultrasound of the Thyroid Gland.

The only people to know about this are myself and my amazing wife. I decided not to mention this to my family / children until I had all the facts to hand, whether that's the right or wrong thing to do \I'm not really sure. I guess I just want to protect everyone as much as possible. We have a family gathering on the 23rd December that I must say I'm just not looking forward to this year. Trying to smile and hold all the anxiety together will be a challenge I'm sure.

'I've read  some other posts from the group and Wish You All the Very Best on your journeys.

Hope to catch up sometime.

Best Regards

Gary

Hi Gary and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you're currently having investigations and we all know what a horrible time that is.

You're doing the right thing staying away from Google and, if you have any questions, people here will try to help based on their experiences.

Do come back and let us know how you get on.

  • I'm going to guess CLL is one of the leukaemias. Odd as it might sound, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the worst that could happen is a thyroid problem.

Tell or don't tell - only you can decide. But my bet would be that those around you already know that something's up. You may well find that friends and relatives have already concluded that you've lost your job or are about to get divorced. People see. But most won't mind if you don't push the issue until you know more.

Do whatever feels right for you. All I would say is if somebody asks you straight out "What's wrong?" and makes clear they don't believe that everything is OK, you might want to spill the beans.  But you don't have to.

    Best wishes

    Barbara
