So , my dad had bowel cancer removed a couple of years ago, we just lost our sister from adenoid cystic carcinoma, so my family are very emotional right now. But now I’ve been diagnosed with having solid hypocchoic
and with peripheral macrocalcification (TR4) measuring 12x 9 × 14 mm. measuring 5 x 4 × 5 mm.measuring 18 x 17 × 21

Plus early multilingual goitre . I’ve not told my parents or other siblings except one sister , but considering not to mention the results after FNA. They don’t need more bad news, and my mum and dad will not cope with this well. I’ve read up a lot on thyroid cancer, and realise many are cured. So no need to stress them out. But I’m now stressing out, what if mine is the bad one . My biopsy is on ( of all days ) my mums 80th birthday 12/01/23 so I’ll have to come up with a good excuse to why I’m not at her surprise party. Sorry for rambling on.

  • Sorry to hear about your family @Singer49 and can understand you not wanting to worry your parents with your diagnosis.  I don't have any suggestions and realise we are all different in how we deal with things, for me I feel a need to talk things out with my family although it has worried them when I have been upset and that made me feel guilty, but I think they would rather know than not.  I hope you come to a decision and if you decide not to tell them just now, then I hope you have someone that you can confide in.  You should have a MacMillan Nurse contact who are always happy to talk to you, plus of course there are always people on here and there are Facebook Groups (such as Thyroid Cancer Support UK) too which are very supportive and can be very helpful.
