New to the group, but not to thyroid cancer

Hello, my thyroid cancer journey started in 2016 with surgery and radioiodine treatment - and is still going today.

I am keen to hear from people who have had multiple round of radioiodine because the thyroid cancer has spread - mine is shoulder blade, lungs, possible pelvis.

It would be reassuring to hear that this isn't totally unusual and what I can expect going forwards. I find the uncertainty quite difficult - if I should just expect to have several round of radioiodine every year (forever?!) I think i would rather know, rather than be surprised and disappointed every time I meet the consultant and they recommend another dose.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have the experience that you're looking for, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully it'll be seen by someone with a similar experience.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thank you for your reply and advice. I will do that! X

  • I am only just starting on my journey @MargotF, TT end July RAI booked for 7 Dec and hoping for the best.  I just wanted to say welcome to the group and sorry to hear about your ongoing struggles.  It does seem to be a very uncertain disease and isn't as easy as it is first made out when it is referred to as the easy Cancer.  I wish you all the best and sorry I can't help more x
