Wanting to make contact with others diagnosed with this - especially if metastasised please. Don’t think my husbands care and treatment is optimal

  • Hello Myrtle31

Just wanted to say hello and welcome to the group. I’m sorry I don’t have experience of the type of cancer you mentioned but I’m sure someone will be able to message with helpful information soon. I’m sorry you’re going through such a tough time.

  • I have found a Facebook page which is very useful,

    Thyroid Cancer Support Uk

also there is the Butterfly Thyroid Trust

    https://www.butterfly.org.uk

Hope you find the help you need

  • Hi

I have just recently been diagnosed with a poorly differentiated thyroid cancer that is also in lymph nodes/glands and am also seeking some info around it. Since my diagnosis I have been back to my specialist who has said it is more than likely papillary thyroid cancer but couldn't be sure until after my TT and neck dissection surgery in a couple of weeks. So for me it is just playing the waiting game until they can properly diagnose me.

It just makes your mind work overtime given the swing in statistics between the different types of thyroid cancer out there. I hope you all received the correct treatment and are on the right path.

  • Hi Hatter

you can have a look at my profile and read my back story.
I am doing great and starting to live and love life again. I know how you are feeling but take it one day and one appointment at a time and you will get through it. Take care xx

  • I’m really sorry to hear this. One thing puzzles me - how did they diagnose that it was poorly differentiated without at same time finding out whether it was papillary or follicular? Where are you being treated ? Waiting for a complete diagnosis is awful

  • Hi,

it was confirmed as cancer through the lymph biopsies and the FNA on a lump in my thyroid came back as suspicious. So after further biopsies they confirmed thyroid cancer but it was too poorly differentiated to determine what kind. First stage of treatment is my TT operation in a couple of weeks then they said it will probably be RAI at the Christie depending on how which diagnosis it is after the full biopsy come back after removal.
